    摘要: A charging method within a glass tube using a direct current of low voltage is provided in order to obtain a small fluorescent lamp with a light emission of high luminance. Two distinct discharges are achieved through use of one negative electrode. The filament-like negative electrode is arranged at a short spaced relation to a positive electrode at one end of the glass tube and upon application of the direct current voltage becomes the preliminary discharge. A second positive electrode is positioned at the opposite end of the glass tube and has a greater-spaced relation to the negative electrode resulting in the second discharge.

    摘要: Power is provided to a fluorescent lamp by connecting a source of alternating electrical current, consisting of a series of alternately positive and negative current pulses, to the lamp and shaping the current pulses such that the absolute value of the current increases as a function of time within each pulse. The shaped current source may be provided by a switched mode drive circuit, including a power transformer having a primary winding and a secondary winding, the power transformer secondary winding being connected to the lamp; a flyback transformer having a primary winding and a secondary winding, a first terminal of the flyback transformer primary winding being connected to the center of the power transformer primary winding and a second terminal of the flyback transformer primary winding being connected to a positive terminal of a source of direct current electrical power; a first switch connected between a first terminal of the power transformer primary winding and a negative terminal of the power source; a second switch connected between a second terminal of the power transformer primary winding and the negative terminal of the power source; a diode connected between a first terminal of the flyback transformer secondary winding and the second terminal of the flyback transformer primary winding, such that current is limited to flowing from the secondary winding to the primary winding of the flyback transformer; and a capacitor connected between the first and second terminals of the power source. A digital control circuit may be coupled to the first and second switches to open and close the switches in a time sequenced pattern, thereby causing the current pulses to be shaped such that the absolute value of the current increases as a function of time within each pulse.

    摘要: A circuit including a starting device and in which a discharge lamp is connected to the output terminal of a nonlinear thyristor oscillator. The thyristor oscillator includes a first closed circuit comprising a power source, a choke coil and a capacitor. This first closed circuit is set for a first oscillating condition. A second closed circuit is also employed. It comprises an inductance element and a voltage responsive switch such as a thyristor which elements are connected to said capacitor. This second closed circuit is set for a second oscillating condition, preferably near resonance state. A high frequency transformer can be combined with the second closed circuit in order to realize a faster turning on or initiation of the discharge lamp. In a hotcathode type discharge lamp, a third circuit for increasing preheating current is included in said oscillator circuit.
