    摘要: To re-ignite efficiently an arc-furnace arc extending between an electrode and a material to be melt, a second energy supply is provided to maintain a plasma link between the electrode and the melting material when the arc-furnace arc is interrupted The electrode is supplied by a large current power supply including a large current conductor having a self inductance and being connected to the electrode. The second energy supply is an electrical power supply wherein a high frequency bypass impedance is provided in a supply path to the large current conductor at a distance from a capacitive circuit to allow a high frequency resonant circuit to be formed by the conductor section between the capacitive circuit and the bypass impedance without adversely affecting the large current power supply of the arc furnace. The capacitive circuit comprises an HF power supply injected in resonance with the resonant circuit to build an oscillating voltage and use the oscillating voltage to inject an HF current between the electrode and the melting metal in order to maintain the plasma link.

    摘要: An integrated power unit for use in a bed of a pickup truck. A lower housing is sized to fit between the rear wheel wells of the pickup truck, and opposed upper housings extend over respective opposed sidewalls of the truck bed. The opposed upper housings are adjustable with respect to the lower housing, so that the integrated power unit may be used with various makes and models of pickup trucks. The lower housing contains an internal combustion engine for generating mechanical power, an alternator and electrically driven compressors. Ducting and baffles facilitate air flow and cooling in the lower housing. A fuel tank is formed by one of the upper housings, and a control panel is located in the other upper housing. Connections for electrical power and regulated and unregulated pneumatic power are available at the control panel.

Such a power source comprises a current controller and a zero voltage switch. The current controller and the zero voltage switch are integrated in the intermediate circuit transformer.     摘要: In the operation of a dc arc furnace components of the furnace are monitored to detect unwanted arcs. A first low impedance path is continuously established between the components. When an arc is detected a second conductive path of a predetermined impedance is established between the components, in parallel to the first low impedance path, to extinguish the arc. After the arc has been extinguished the second path is open circuited to restore the furnace to normal operation.

    摘要: An electrode assembly comprising concentric tubular electrodes is provided for high temperature processing of materials. The electrode assembly is connected with a power supply that includes switching means for alternatively operating the electrode assembly in a transferred mode of operation, in a non-transferred mode of operation, or according to a controlled sequence of non-transferred and transferred modes of operation. The power supply system includes variable inductors, such as leakage-coupled reactors, for controlling the electrical power supplied to the electrodes for producing a DC arc. The electrode assembly can be incorporated into an arc furnace for processing waste material in the furnace. The electrode assembly is also suitable for use in the practice of in-situ vitrification and remediation of contaminated soil. During in-situ vitrification, the electrode assembly may also be operated in the non-transferred mode, while being withdrawn from holes in the earth, to produce vitrified columns of soil. The vitrified columns of soil can be coalesced with similar adjacent columns of soil in order to form a composite or unitary subterranean mass or barrier for contaminated material in a selected area. Multiple electrode assemblies can be employed to treat contamination located within a large area. An AC potential can be applied to adjacent electrode assemblies in order to promote coalescence of the adjacent columns of treated soil to form a composite or unitary mass.
