摘要: A power supply is provided for an electric arc furnace in which heat is generated by passage of current through one or more electrodes that causes an electric arc between the one or more electrodes and a metal in the electric arc furnace. The power supply is coupleable to and between the electric arc furnace and a utility configured to provide three-phase alternating current (AC) power. The power supply includes power circuitry with a cycloconverter (CCV) for each electrode of the one or more electrodes. The CCV is configured to receive three-phase power voltage and produce a single-phase voltage with reduced frequency that is delivered to the electrode to cause the electrode to create the electric arc that produces the heat to melt the metal. Control circuitry is operably coupled to the CCV, and configured to control a frequency of the single-phase voltage.

摘要: An optically based combustion off-gas stream velocity sensor assembly is provided for detecting in real-time off-gas flow velocity and/or volume as it moves through a flue duct. The sensor assembly includes two paired coherent light emitters and optic sensors, positioned in a spaced orientation in the flow path direction. The light emitter/optic sensor pairs operate to emit and detect across the off-gas stream coherent light beam energy having a wavelength component corresponding to an absorption profile of an off-gas species component. The detection of non-absorbed portions of the emitted beam is used to identify and detect the movement of a flow species signature at different locations along the flue duct.

摘要: Provided are a method and an arrangement for measurement of electrode paste in an electrode column of an electric arc furnace. The electrode column comprises a steel casing surrounding the electrode paste and said electrode column is provided with a contact shoe ring to conduct electric current to the electrode. The electrode column is filled with electrode paste. The electrode paste evolves through different phases, from raw paste in the upper part of the steel casing to melted paste and further to baked paste in the lower part of the electrode column. The level of the raw paste is determined with a first laser device and the level of the molten paste is determined with a second laser device. The data received from the laser devices is used for calculation of the distances of the levels of the raw paste and molten paste from the contact shoe ring.

摘要: A temperature measuring apparatus for a top submerged lancing installation, for use in measuring the temperature of a molten bath that includes a slag phase, during a pyro-metallurgical operation conducted in a reactor of the installation, includes a top submerged injecting top submerged injecting lance having at least an outer pipe and an inner pipe. A bore is defined by the inner pipe and an annular passage is defined in part by an inner surface of the outer pipe. The apparatus further includes a pyrometer device of which at least a sensor head part is mounted in relation to the top submerged injecting lance and operable both to receive infrared energy passing longitudinally within the lance from an outlet end of the lance. The sensor head part also is operable to focus the received infrared energy to enable generation of an output signal or display indicative of the temperature of a molten bath in which an outlet end portion of the lance is submerged and from which the infrared energy is received.

The furnace is operated such that slag is formed on top of molten steel contained therein. The furnace is moved to a first position to cause transfer of molten steel to the ladle to begin. The transfer of molten steel from the furnace to the ladle is continued, and at the first occurrence of molten steel attaining the desired level in the ladle, molten steel attaining a maximum allowable weight in the ladle, or an excessive amount of slag being present upon the molten steel in the ladle, transfer of molten steel to the ladle is ceased.
