摘要: A novel lightweight, high stability ergonomic chair, enabling sitting, and leaning in a perched intermediary position between sitting and standing. An inclined saddle type seat is supported by three legs. A forward chair leg is located between the feet of, and beneath the center of gravity of the seated person. Two chair legs extend rearward. The chair permits rocking backwards, diagonally forward, and rocking about the forward chair leg. This “active seating” provides for easy transitions between sitting and standing, shifting of weight, and conveys an open positive body language. Multiple embodiments and architectures are disclosed multiple configurations including; rigid, folding, and for quick disassembly. The chairs may be constructed of various rigid and flexible materials, with optional features including; armrests, footrests, caster wheels, cushioning, and a standing desk type work surface. The chair eliminates the need for connection to a base platform beneath the user's feet.

摘要: An automatically adjusting comfort method includes measuring pressure applied by a user via a pressure-sensor array, determining a pressure profile based on measurements from the pressure-sensor array, comparing the pressure profile to a first limit, determining a cumulative pressure profile over a predetermined duration, comparing the cumulative pressure profile to a second limit, and adjusting one or more of a plurality of adjusting mechanisms configured to alter the pressure profile for increased comfort of the user when the pressure profile exceeds the first limit or the second limit. An automatically adjusting comfort system includes a pressure-sensor array communicatively coupled to a controller for determining a cumulative pressure profile over time, and a plurality of adjusting mechanisms configured to alter the pressure profile to increase a user's comfort, wherein the controller automatically adjusts one or more of the plurality of adjusting mechanisms based on the cumulative pressure profile.

摘要: The invention relates generally to a lightweight, collapsible, and portable wheeled seat, e.g., a wheeled office chair or stool, for travel, storage, and mobility. The seat includes a seat base member and a seat surface member collapsible between an open, extended position, which is configured to provide a seating surface, and a collapsed, closed position. The seat surface member includes a central seating surface member fixed to the seat base member that has an outer perimeter, and a pair of oppositely disposed and generally u-shaped seating surface members pivotally secured to the seat base member. Each of the generally u-shaped seating surface members include a pair of leg portions that extend from a base portion thereof, or an inward directed perimeter and a portion of each inward directed perimeter has a shape that substantially complementarily corresponds to a shape of a portion of the outer perimeter of the central seating surface member.

摘要: A manufacturing method of a seating device includes manufacturing an outer skin; manufacturing a core member via a foaming process; wrapping the core member in the outer skin, coupling a mounting plate at a bottom surface of the core member; and selectively coupling a mounting structure to the mounting plate to form the seating device. The outer skin is constructed to have a top skin layer adhered on a top surface of the core member, a side skin layer adhered on a side surface of the core member, and a bottom skin layer adhered on a bottom surface of the core member. Particularly, the top skin layer of the outer skin is adhered on the top surface of the core member edge-to-edge to initially align and retain the outer skin on the core member.
