    摘要: A recorder has a feeder for feeding a sheet of recording paper and an ink sheet wound around a circumferential face of a winding member from a supplying roller portion between a recording head and a platen in a state in which the ink sheet overlaps with the sheet of recording paper and a relative feed speed ratio of the sheet of recording paper to the ink sheet is set to be greater than one; and a device for performing a thermal transfer recording operation with respect to the sheet of recording paper through the ink sheet, the winding member being rotated by a rotary driving source rotating at a constant speed, the rotary driving source being adapted to determine a feed speed of the ink sheet. A feeding amount of the ink sheet is smaller than that of the sheet of recording paper.

    摘要: In a recording apparatus, an ink sheet and recording medium are conveyed, the ink sheet is activated to perform image recording on the recording medium, the conveying state of the ink sheet is detected, and the conveying amount of the ink sheet is adjusted in accordance with the detected information regarding the conveying state of the ink sheet. This adjustment prevents the adhesion of the recording medium and ink sheet, thereby eliminating image omissions and density irregularities in the recording. Preventing adhesion of the recording medium and ink sheet results in improved image recording quality, and also helps to reduce trouble resulting from the ink sheet or recording medium being cut off.

    摘要: A method of operating a thermal transfer printer, the thermal transfer printer comprising first and second spool supports each being configured to support a spool of ribbon; a ribbon drive configured to cause movement of ribbon from the first spool support to the second spool support along a predetermined ribbon path; and a printhead. The printhead is moveable towards and away from a printing surface, and, during printing, is configured to selectively transfer ink from the ribbon to a substrate as the substrate and printhead are moved relative to one another at a print speed. The method comprising causing relative movement between the ribbon and the printhead at a ribbon speed. A relative speed of movement between the ribbon and the substrate during printing is controlled based upon a force exerted upon the ribbon by the printhead during a printing operation, and/or a parameter indicative of an area of contact between a portion of the printhead and a portion of the printing surface.

    摘要: An apparatus for use in a thermal printer for printing bar code symbols onto a paper substrate material is provided which utilizes a ribbon having a multi-transfer ink layer. The thermal printer enables the ink ribbon to be transported at a rate that is selectively lower than the transporting rate of the paper substrate. The thermal printer comprises a platen and a thermal head disposed adjacent to the platen having a region defined therebetween through which the paper substrate material is transported at a first rate. Images or symbols are imprinted onto the paper substrate material by operation of the thermal head in cooperation with ink from the multi-transfer ink ribbon advanced to the region. A supply hub carries a supply of the ribbon, and a first motor is mechanically linked to the supply hub. The first motor rotates the hub in a direction opposite to a direction of advancement of the ribbon. A roller is mechanically linked to the first motor and has a surface engaging the ribbon provided with a friction coefficient sufficient to prevent slippage of the ribbon across the surface. A second motor applies a tension on the ribbon, and a clutch interposed between the first motor and the supply hub permits controlled slippage of the supply hub to permit advancement of the ribbon. A take-up hub mechanically linked to the second motor receives the ribbon after its passage through the region between the platen and the thermal head.
