    摘要: An impact mechanism for use in an impact printer, to deliver a printing force to drive a character element against a platen by means of a print tip movable toward and away from the platen. A rockable bail bar having having an axis of rotation substantially parallel to the axis of the platen is constrained to limited angular movement toward and away from the platen by a prime mover connected to the bail bar. A push rod interconnects the print tip and the bail bar so as to close the throat distance for delivering an impact force to the platen as the bail bar is moved toward the platen. A repositioning element, having a portion thereof in alignment with the bail bar, allows the push rod to be drawn away from the platen while being interconnected thereto so as to allow access to and removal of the character element.

    摘要: The invention relates to a print hammer bank of electromagnetic print hammer actuators in modular design of the type which includes a plurality of actuators each of which comprises a stator formed in two halves, each half including an electromagnet and a plurality of pole pieces, and means for positioning the stator halves relative to each other so that the ends of the pole pieces of the two halves are spaced apart in pairs so as to form a plurality of aligned operating gaps. The armature elements are designed so that the volume of each armature element is of the order of the volume of the associated operating gap.A print hammer bank in accordance with the invention is characterized in that the print hammer bank consists of two spaced apart rows of modules of the same geometrical shape and design forming the stator halves with the armature members located side by side in the space between the rows of modules, in that, for adjacent print hammers, the associated electromagnets are staggered relative to each other within the associated module, and in that each module, looking at the side facing the armature members, is shaped like a parallelogram.

    摘要: Disclosed is a free-flight hammer, impact-printing apparatus including a shifting hammer bank having a plurality of interchangeable hammer modules. Each hammer module includes a plurality of individual linear motion, slidable hammers which are mounted in a side by side relationship in a hammer housing. Each hammer housing also includes a hammer-return spring mounted adjacent a hammer for causing the hammer to return to a set position. The hammers are caused to strike a moving record medium by a plurality of interchangeable actuator modules which each include an actuator assembly. Each actuator assembly comprises a stator housed in a stator housing, a solenoid assembly and an armature. The solenoid assembly is mounted between the stator and the armature. The armature actuates pushrods, which are slidably mounted in the stator housing, in order to cause a hammer to strike. A second actuator assembly can be mounted behind the first actuator assembly relative to the hammer modules so that the first actuator assembly can actuate two hammers through the interaction between the two adjacent actuator modules.

    摘要: An improved daisy-wheel printer of the type in which a hammer contacts a daisy-wheel to print characters is designed so as to facilitate the position setting of the hammer and other movable parts for actuating the type head. According to the design, it is possible to shift the type head with a reduced force and to eliminate the necessity for the adjustment of same during assembly. The stability and tilting operation of the carriage is enhanced. The carriage is stably secured, eliminating lateral oscillation of the same without the necessity of manufacturing the carriage using highly precise machining. The ribbon cartridge is held in such a manner as to be able to move rapidly, with reduced generation of vibration and with high durability. The design facilitates the determination of relative positions of constituents of the magnet device which drives the hammer, and facilitates fine adjustment of the same. The magnet assembly includes a substrate and an arm extending from the substrate. A pivotally-mounted armature for impacting the hammer is mounted on the magnet assembly and swings between plural stopper means disposed at the limits of pivoting travel of the armature. The stopper means may advantageously be eccentric shafts that may be rotated and fixed in position so as to make fine adjustments to the limits of pivoting travel of the armature.

The assembly includes an extruded metal rear frame having a uniform thickness and a plurality of machined mounting surfaces which are machined in accurate relationship with respect to one another. A pair of extruded plastic shoes are mounted to the top and bottom of the frame and also include machined surfaces for accurately aligning them with respect to the frame. The shoes include a plurality of mounting slots which are cut by means of a gang cutter. The slots serve to accurately align a plurality of print hammers in the shoes. The hammers are insulated with respect to the frame and the shoes in order to prevent sliding motion and subsequent wearing of the print hammers. Also disclosed are several methods of simplifying the construction procedure of the hammer bank assembly.

    摘要: An improved hammer bank assembly includes a plurality of spaced-apart hammers, each of the hammers including a substantially planar hammer body containing an electrical coil, with each hammer body being supported for movement in a predetermined plane. A hammer head is attached to and coplanar with each hammer body. Also included are a plurality of flat permanent magnets interleaved with the plurality of hammers so that adjacent ones of the permanent magnets oppose but are separated from each hammer body. A plurality of hammer guide members are provided, one for each hammer, with each hammer guide member defining therein an elongated groove in which is received at least a portion of each hammer head. The dimensions of each groove in a direction transverse to the predetermined plane of hammer movement, are such that the hammer head contacts the hammer support member upon deflection of the hammer in directions transverse to its predetermined plane of movement before its associated body contacts either of the adjacent, opposing permanent magnets to prevent damage to the coil within the hammer body.

A rigid pivot upon which the hammer is mounted is simply secured to one side of a frame member. One end of the hammer is disposed in a slot of the armature of the electromagnetic actuator. The stator of the actuator is arranged to be inserted (by means of screw threads) from the other side of the frame member through an aperture so that the armature fits within the actuator stator cavity. An impression control spring is further disposed in a central cavity of the armature to continually produce a biasing force on the hammer which in the free-flight condition of the hammer is a decelerating force.

    摘要: An improved hammer assembly is disclosed for use in impact printers having a print station comprising a continuously rotating print wheel and an adjacent hammer mechanism for selectively impacting print stock and an interposed ink ribbon against a raised element on the print wheel to thereby imprint a character on the print stock. The hammer assembly includes an elongated hammer having a hammer surface at one end and an actuating surface at the other end which is engaged by a hammer actuating device in the hammer mechanism having a controllable, substantially reciprocative movement. The elongated hammer is supported for substantially reciprocative, planar movement with respect to a similarly elongated first support member by a pair of linear leaf springs which extend between the elongated hammer and the first support member in a spaced-apart, parallel manner. A second support member is provided for rigidly securing the hammer assembly to a support means in the hammer mechanism and is connected to the first support member by a flexure which is located on the first support member at a location offset from but adjacent to a first end thereof. A pin is located on the first support member at a location offset from but adjacent to a second end thereof and extends at right angles from the first support member and through an aperture in the support means. A cam is rotatable on the pin and engages the aperture in the support means to permit adjustable rotation of the first support member, and accordingly the elongated hammer, with respect to the fixed second support member to insure that the hammer surface is vertically aligned with respect to the print wheel.
