    摘要: Apparatus and method to access external vehicle cargo carriers and cargo are disclosed for moving cargo from a vehicle's roof to the vehicle's hood and returning the cargo to the roof for storage. A particular embodiment consists of using existing vehicle external roof-rack mounts and cargo carriers to allow mobile crossbars to deliver the cargo carrier and the cargo to a position at the front of the vehicle. A self-contained control system provides locomotive force to deploy and retrieve the cargo carrier and cargo. A human interface is used to control the apparatus and includes manual checks to ensure safe use. The apparatus can be used without a control system and operated manually.

    摘要: A cargo rack system having a base framework that attaches to a vehicle. The base framework has an inclined framing element and a horizontal framing element. Linkage mounts are disposed within the interior of the framing elements, wherein the linkage mounts are accessible through slots. A linear actuator reciprocally moves the linkage mounts between a first position and a second position. A cargo frame is provided. Linkages connect the cargo frame to the linkage mounts moved by the linear actuator. The linkages move the cargo frame between a first configuration, wherein the primary plane of the cargo frame is parallel to the inclined framing element, and a second configuration, wherein the primary plane of the cargo frame is parallel to the horizontal framing element. The cargo frame has extension arms that can be selectively extended and retracted in the primary plane.

The ladder rack comprises a supporting arrangement anchored only along a single edge area of a rooftop, the supporting arrangement comprising a first load-bearing member entirely extending over the rooftop within an edge of the rooftop and a second load-bearing member extending substantially parallel to the first load-bearing member with a lateral offset, outside the rooftop and away from the edge of the rooftop. A ladder-supporting arrangement holds the ladder and connects to the first load-bearing member and to the first load-bearing member for supporting a weight of the ladder. The remainder of the rooftop surface is exempt of any member and is free for other purposes. The ladder is held on a side of the vehicle with an offset to be able to open a sliding door on the same side of the vehicle as the ladder rack.
