    摘要: A system and a method to warn a ship crew of potential violent motions in the immediate near future for the oceangoing vessel when operating in seas. Violent ship motions not only discomfort ship crews, damage cargos and ship structures, but also pose potential capsizing risk to ships. The system includes motion sensors; computer hardware and software; and warning devices. The sensors measure the ship roll, pitch, yaw, and rudder motions. The time histories of these motions are stored in the hardware and constantly analyzed using Finite Fourier Transform by Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to detect the nonlinear inertial coupling effect which is newly discovered by the inventor and believed to be the root cause leading to violent motions and capsizing. Based on the inventor's theory of nonlinear instability and inertial coupling effect, the invented method detects nonlinear yaw instability potential and inertial coupling events, and provides warnings to master to reduce potential yaw nonlinear instability, to avoid inertial coupling roll response, rudder induced oscillations, and broaching, and to prevent capsize in seas.

The transmitting device can also unlock various devices and systems on the watercraft by generating an authentic ID code. In other embodiments, a signal intensity is monitored to trigger a guidance system, while still other embodiments replace the transmitting device with on-board sonar systems.

    摘要: A combination torpedo tube test plug and muzzle door for a torpedo tube iudes a circumferential land formed at an extreme muzzle end of the torpedo tube. The circumferential land has an inner peripheral diameter less than an inner peripheral diameter of the torpedo tube, and an inner peripheral transition surface contiguously joining the inner peripheral surface of the torpedo tube. An abutting face is formed on an end of the muzzle door facing the circumferential land. A lip extension extends from the abutting face. The lip extension includes an outer peripheral surface mating with the inner peripheral surface of the circumferential land, and a device for selectively securing the lip extension to the inner peripheral surface of the circumferential land, wherein separation of the muzzle door from the torpedo tube is prevented.

    摘要: A safety device on an aft seal system equipped with at least two gaskets for a ship's propeller shaft, which propeller shaft is sealed with respect to the outside water and with respect to a lubricant chamber, and on which a ring-shaped chamber is reserved between each two gaskets, to which chamber are connected a feed line for compressed air and a discharge channel which can be emptied by means of a solenoid valve which opens and closes periodically. The pressure in the ring-shaped chamber is kept always slightly lower than the respective outside water pressure and the lubricant pressure by means of a pressure regulation mechanism. In the feed line to the ring-shaped chamber, downstream of the pressure regulation mechanism there is a solenoid valve, and downstream of that there is an airtight container with a float switch, whereby when the container is full of fluid due to a clogging of the discharge channel, the solenoid valve closes and thereby protects the pressure regulation mechanism and the other units against flooding.
