摘要: An exhaust pipe has an upstream-side exhaust pipe extending downward from an engine to house a catalyst for exhaust gas purification, and a downstream-side exhaust pipe located downstream of the upstream-side exhaust pipe, and extending upward from the catalyst and then bending downward. Under a configuration in which an exhaust pipe is disposed below an engine, with a simple configuration, a catalyst is hardly exposed to water.

摘要: A V-type engine in which exhaust pipe arrangement is easily performed and purification of exhaust gas can be performed by a single catalyst. Cylinders where pistons operate are arranged in a V-shape, a crankshaft driven by the driving of the pistons is disposed vertically, exhaust pipes communicating with exhaust openings in the respective banks of a cylinder head are included, rear exhaust pipes in the respective banks are merged outside on a side of the crankshaft, and a catalyst holder that holds a catalyst is provided in a merge portion of the rear exhaust pipes. Since the rear exhaust pipes in the respective banks are merged and the catalyst holder is provided in this merge portion, exhaust gas from each bank can be purified by the single catalyst, so that the number of catalysts installed is reduced to thus be able to reduce manufacturing cost.

摘要: This oil case of an outboard motor is provided below an engine and stores lubricating oil of the engine. In this method for manufacturing the oil case, the oil case is manufactured so as to comprise: an oil chamber; an introduction path that guides upward cooling supply water drawn in from outside the outboard motor; a delivery path that guides downward cooling discharge water that has cooled the engine; a main exhaust path that guides exhaust gas of the engine downward; and a sub exhaust path that guides exhaust gas during low-speed rotation of the engine. The oil chamber, the introduction path, the delivery path, the main exhaust path and the sub exhaust path form an integral structure.

摘要: An outboard motor is provided with an upper separator disposed on the lower side of an oil case for storing a lubricating oil of an engine, and an extension case which is separably connected on the lower side of the upper separator. The upper separator has a central exhaust passage through which exhaust gas flows, and a cooling water flow part through which cooling water flows on the outside of the central exhaust passage, the central exhaust passage and the cooling water flow part forming an integrated structure. The exhaust gas and the cooling water are caused to mix in the extension case.

摘要: An outboard motor includes an engine, a relay exhaust pipe, a downstream exhaust pipe connected to the relay exhaust pipe, and a propeller to be driven by the engine. The engine includes a plurality of cylinders arranged in series along a vertical direction, a plurality of exhaust ports respectively extending from the combustion chambers of the plurality of cylinders in a sideward direction, and an upstream exhaust pipe connected to the plurality of exhaust ports and extending downwardly. A lower end portion of the upstream exhaust pipe is connected to the relay exhaust pipe from above. The upstream exhaust pipe includes an upstream portion located at a higher location than the lower end portion and extending linearly downwardly. The lower end portion is located closer to the combustion chamber than the upstream portion with respect to a left-right direction.

摘要: An outboard motor, including an engine having a cylinder containing a combustion chamber, an intake pathway connected to the combustion chamber, a piston disposed in the cylinder, a crankshaft connected to the piston, a fuel injection device connected to the intake pathway, and an ignition device connected to the combustion chamber. The outboard motor further includes a controller that is configured to receive a signal indicating an engine speed from a sensor, control the fuel injection device to suspend fuel supply and control the ignition device to suspend ignition, upon determining that the engine is in an over-revolution state, control the fuel injection device to release the suspension of the fuel supply upon determining that the engine has recovered from the over-revolution state, and control the ignition device to release the suspension of the ignition after lapse of a number of cycles of the engine since the release of the suspension of the fuel supply.
