Abstract: An air intake passage structure includes an outer cover forming an outer wall of an outboard motor, an inner cover disposed inside the outer cover, a first intake port formed in the outer cover, a second intake port formed in the inner cover, an air introduction chamber formed between the outer cover and the inner cover; and an air passage formed inside the outer cover. The air passage includes a first passage part on an upper side of the air introduction chamber, and a second passage part extending downward from the first passage part. The air introduction chamber includes a side portion communicating with the first intake port, and a top portion communicating with the first passage part through an opening formed in the partition wall.

Abstract: This outboard machine has: a V-type engine (engine) in which a plurality of cylinders are arranged in a V-shape when viewed in a plan view; and a cover that covers the engine. The engine has a plurality of intake ports that form pairs in a V-shape inside the plurality of cylinders in a plan view and a concave space is formed between the plurality of intake ports. The cover has therein an intake path that guides air to the intake port, and is also provided with, at a position that is adjacent to the intake path and enters the concave space, a silencer that attenuates the sound during intake.

Abstract: An outboard engine unit capable of efficiently cooling the interior of an engine cover is disclosed. The outboard engine unit includes a cooling opening capable of guiding air to an interior from an upper part of the engine cover, a first intake channel having a first outlet open to an upper front end and communicating with the opening, a partition wall disposed so as to be oriented substantially in a perpendicular direction below the first outlet; and a second intake channel extending substantially in the perpendicular direction along a rear wall of the engine cover rearward of the partition wall. The outboard engine unit is configured so that air directed from the cooling opening to the interior of the engine cover is directed to the throttle unit via the second cooling air intake channel.

Abstract: A control system for an outboard motor is provided which enables safe navigation over a shoal. A control system for an outboard motor including a propeller includes: a trim angle adjustment motor for changing the attitude of the outboard motor with respect to a watercraft; and a controller configured to selectively implement first control that operates the trim angle adjustment motor and controls the vertical position of the propeller to a first position, and second control that operates the trim angle adjustment motor and controls the vertical position of the propeller to a second position closer to a water surface than the first position. The controller acquires information on the depth of water a predetermined distance ahead in the travel direction of the watercraft, and determines which of the first control and the second control is implemented, on the basis of at least the information on the depth of water.

Abstract: There is provided a boat maneuvering support device for a boat including an outboard motor, a power device which outputs a thrust force in a port-starboard direction, and a steering mechanism which changes a steering angle. The device includes a rotational speed detection unit which detects a rotational speed of a propeller of the outboard motor, and a control unit which controls a magnitude of the thrust force output by the power device. The control unit controls the magnitude of the thrust force output by the power device so as to change a balance between a magnitude of a first turning force which makes the boat turn by a thrust force of the outboard motor and a magnitude of a second turning force which makes the boat turn by the thrust force of the power device.
