The main body has multiple pockets of variable depth so that raceways are formed for balls situated therein, wherein tangential springs press the balls against ends of the pockets in the circumferential direction. The cover body is rotatable relative to the main body about an axis and is axially displaceable, and has an annular first support element, an annular second support element, and a connection, wherein the support elements are axially spaced apart from one another and the connection connects the support elements so that they are fixed relative to one another. The axial spring element at a first end rests on an annular stop surface of the main body, and at a second end rests on a surface of the first support element, wherein the axial spring element is situated between the first support element and the second support element. A surface of the second support element facing away from the axial spring element rests against the balls, and the balls and the axial spring element are arranged in an overlapping manner in the radial direction.

    摘要: A camless valve assembly for an internal combustion engine which utilizes a plurality of three position control valves to open and close the intake and exhaust valves of the assembly. Each valve is coupled to a plurality of hydraulically driven pins that move the valve between the open and closed positions. The flow of fluid to the pins is controlled by the three position digitally latched solenoid actuated control valves that can be switched between a first position, a second position and a neutral position. When a control valve is in the first position the fluid flows into the pins and moves the valve. When the control valve is in the second position the fluid can flow away from the pins to allow the valve to move back to the original position. When the control valve is in the neutral position the fluid does not flow so that the valve cannot move. The control valve can be switched by a controller that can move and maintain a valve at any position during any cycle of the engine.

Two semicylindrical cotters are pushed by a press member, so that the valve is driven and reciprocated. When the valve is moved upward or downward to open a port of a valve casing in which the valve is contained, fluid flows, thereby allowing fluid pressure to act on the fins, so that valve rotates little by little around its axis owing to a slight gap between the cotters and the valve stem.

    摘要: A valve rotating apparatus of an internal-combustion engine comprises a valve biased in the closing direction by a coil spring, a valve lifter disposed on an engine head in such manner as to be vertically movable together with the valve, a cam formed on a cam shaft for directly driving the valve through the valve lifter, and a thrust rolling bearing retaining the coil spring, the thrust roller bearing comprising an upper washer, a lower washer, and balls held by a cage between the upper and lower washers. The cage is provided between its inner and outer circumferences with a plurality of pockets at regular spatial intervals, a plurality of balls being housing in each pocket; and the inner or outer periphery of each of the upper and lower washers is provided with an axially extending cylindrical portion. The upper washer has the degree of freedom for movement in all directions including X and Y directions, within the same plane. Accordingly, the thrust rolling bearing follows the radial displacement of the coil spring caused by its bending or the like, so that the thrust rolling bearing is moved together with the coil spring, and the intake/exhaust valve can be smoothly rotated. The thrust rolling bearing can also be applied between the valve lifter and a pad disposed thereon.

    摘要: The valve rotator comprises a body to be attached to and rotatable with the valve. The body has at least one groove therein extending partially around said valve stem. Shiftable means is disposed within the groove. A collar receives the valve spring biasing force and encircles the valve stem adjacent the body. The body and the collar are movable in axial and rotational directions relative to each other. A pair of spring washers encircles the valve stem and is interposed between the collar and the shiftable means. One of the spring washers has a portion bearing on the shiftable means and another portion bearing on the body when the valve is closed. The other of the spring washers acts between the collar and the another portion of the one spring washer and has a first portion which overlies the another portion of the one spring washer when the valve is closed and a second portion spaced at least in part from the one spring washer when the valve is closed. Each of said spring washers has an inner circumference and an outer circumference. The overlying portions of the one and the other of the spring washers cooperate with each other adjacent the inner circumferences thereof to transmit surges of the valve spring from the collar through the overlying portions of the one and the other of the spring washers to the body to thereby isolate surges of the valve spring from the shiftable means.

    摘要: A valve rotator is effective between a valve stem of an internal-combustion engine and a support, normally the cylinder head. The rotator comprises an upper spring plate, a lower spring plate spaced along an axis below this upper plate, a compession spring braced axially between the plates, a two-part link element having an upper part rotationally secured to the valve stem and a lower part rotationally fixed in at least one rotational direction relative to the axis on the lower plate, and a unidirectional clutch between the lower part and the support and permitting the lower part to rotate about the axis only in the one direction relative to the support. Normally the lower plate is rotatable relative to the upper plate and the lower part is generally cylindrical, centered on the axis, and fixed rotationally on the lower plate. The clutch is also normally provided between the lower plate and part and the support. Such a rotator is connected with the clutch so that it turns with the valve.
