    摘要: A control device projects a lock pin to lock a VCT phase in an intermediate lock phase when a lock request occurs. A learning unit learns one of a most retarded phase, a most advanced phase, and an intermediate lock phase, as a reference phase. A control unit sets a target phase according to the reference phase and controls the control device. A monitor unit determines that the VCT phase has passed through the intermediate lock phase when the lock request occurs before completion of learning of the reference phase, and when a change in the VCT phase becomes greater than a threshold. The threshold is set to be greater than a sum of i) a design value of a phase difference between the intermediate lock phase and one of the most retarded phase and the most advanced phase and ii) a range of a product variation of the phase difference.

    摘要: A bistable electronically controlled pneumatically powered transducer for use, for example, as a valve mechanism actuator in an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The transducer has a piston which is coupled to an engine valve, for example. The pistion is powered by a pneumatic source and is held in each of its extreme positions by pneumatic pressure under the control of control valves which are in turn held in their closed positions by pressurized air and/or permanent magnet latching arrangements and are released therefrom to supply air to the piston to be pneumatically driven to the other extreme position by an electromagnetic neutralization of the permanent magnet field. A pair of auxiliary pistons movable with the piston compress air to a pressure above the pressure of the pneumatic source for aiding reclosure of the control valves as well as aiding maintenance of those control valves in their closed positions thereby reducing the size and cost of the latching permanent magnets. Air return springs for the control valves are formed by annular chambers which are sealed by initial control valve motion away from their respective closed positions. Thereafter, the chamber size diminishes linearly, and the chamber pressure increases approximately linearly, with further control valve motion thereby providing a restorative force to the control valve which increases as the valve opens.

    摘要: An outwardly opening valve system for an engine includes an actuator body having a guide bore, a fluid cavity filled with hydraulic fluid that opens to a valve plunger bore, an intensifier plunger bore and a re-supply passageway. A check valve positioned in the re-supply passageway is operable to prevent back flow of hydraulic fluid from the fluid cavity. An outward valve member with a valve face is positioned to reciprocate in the guide bore. An intensifier plunger is slidably positioned in the intensifier plunger bore. A valve plunger is slidably positioned in the valve plunger bore. An over center cam mechanism includes a cam mounted to the actuator body and rotatable about a pivot pin, a push rod with one end in contact with the cam and an other end in contact with the outward valve member, and finally the pivot pin is attached to the valve plunger. A solenoid is mounted on the actuator body and includes a control rod. A computer is in communication with and capable of controlling the solenoid.

    摘要: The present invention provides a crankcase compression type two-cycle engine which has a comparatively simple construction, is capable of operating at a low fuel consumption and discharges an exhaust gas having a comparatively low hydrocarbon concentration. The engine comprises a crankcase, a piston, a cylinder joined to the crankcase and provided in its lower part with an exhaust port which is opened and closed by the piston, a cylinder head attached to the upper end of the cylinder, and forming a combustion chamber together with the cylinder and the piston. A poppet scavenging valve is provided in the upper part of the cylinder so as to be opened to the combustion chamber side. A diaphragm actuator operates the poppet scavenging valve using the pressure within the crankcase. The diaphragm actuator is provided with a diaphragm that receives the pressure within the crankcase on one side thereof and receives the pressure of a spring on the other side thereof. Further, a passage for introducing the pressure within the crankcase into the diaphragm actuator is connected to a scavenging passage. A fuel supply system may be connected to the scavenging passage to supply the fuel into the scavenging passage.

    摘要: A bistable electronically controlled pneumatically powered transducer for use, for example, as a valve mechanism actuator in an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The transducer has a piston which is coupled to an engine valve, for example. The piston is powered by a pneumatic source and is held in each of its extreme positions, and air control valves are held in their closed positions by pressurized air and/or permanent magnet latching arrangements and the control valves are released therefrom to supply air to the piston, and the piston is released therefrom to be pneumatically driven to the other extreme position by an electromagnetic neutralization of the permanent magnet field. The piston forms a part of the magnetic latching circuit and that magnetic circuit also includes a radially slotted ferromagnetic member to both complete the magnetic circuit and provide a good air communication path from a high pressure air inlet to the control valve. A pair of auxiliary pistons movable with the piston compress air to a pressure above the pressure of the pneumatic source for aiding reclosure of the control valves as well as aiding maintenance of those control valves in their closed positions thereby reducing the size and cost of the latching permanent magnets.
