Disclosed herein is an impact sensitive damper damping vibration transferred from a road surface to a vehicle, and more particularly, to an impact sensitive damper in which handling stability may be achieved in a low speed operating section of the damper and improvement of ride comfort may be achieved in a high speed operating section thereof. According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, there is provided an impact sensitive damper improving ride comfort by decreasing damping force when impact is applied to a vehicle, the impact sensitive damper including: a body valve body having compression channels and expansion channels formed therein; a fastener vertically penetrating through the body valve body; a dish shaped spring interposed between an upper portion of the body valve body and the fastener; and a disk shaped spring interposed between a lower portion of the body valve body and the fastener, wherein at the time of compression stroke when the impact is applied to the damper, the fastener is relatively displaced with respect to the body valve body due to elastic deformation of the dish shaped spring, such that the disk shaped spring and the lower portion of the body valve body are spaced apart from each other, thereby increasing a channel area of operating fluid.

The switching ring cooperates with one stop surface to form the boundaries of an annular space adjacent to the working space on the piston rod side and with another stop surface to form the boundary of an annular space adjacent to the working space on the side of the piston opposite the piston rod. The axial extension of the switching ring groove for the axially movable valve ring is large enough to guarantee that the damping medium can flow around the valve ring over a relevant stroke range of the piston rod.

In the disclosed hydraulic shock absorber, damping force characteristics are adjusted in accordance with the frequency of stroke, and the damping force is made small at the time when the directions of stroke are changed from one to the other. Cylinder upper and lower chambers are communicated with each other through main hydraulic fluid passage and first and second bypass passages. During the extension stroke, the second bypass passage is cut off by a check valve, and a shutter in the first bypass passage is slid in accordance with the frequency of stroke by the fluid flowing through an orifice passage to regulate the passage area of the first bypass passage. During the contraction stroke, the first bypass passage is cut off by a check valve, and a shutter in the second passage is slid in accordance with the frequency of stroke by the fluid flowing through an orifice passage to regulate the passage area of the second bypass passage. During either of the extension and contraction strokes, the shutter for the other stroke returns to the original position by the action of the hydraulic pressure in the cylinder.

In a damper for a steering device of a motor vehicle and more particularly a motor cycle a piston rod is axially movable with respect to the cylinder. The piston rod is provided with a piston inside the cylinder. The piston is provided with axial bores. The axial bores open into valve seat faces of the piston. Valve rings are allocated to the valve seat faces. Helical compression springs are located within the bores. These springs urge the valve rings towards respective opening positions. The valve rings are movable towards respective damping positions in response to the axial movement of the piston rod with respect to the cylinder. The valve rings have valve faces opposite to the respective valve seat faces. The valve faces are provided with projections towards the valve seat faces and with recesses adjacent these projections. So, a restricted fluid communication is obtained in the damping position of the respective valve ring.
