    摘要: An apparatus for delivering a stream of green pellets has a wide belt conveyor and a vibrating conveyor having a deck for supporting the green pellets and conveying the green pellets to the wide belt conveyor in a direction of conveyance over a discharge edge. The discharge edge has an adjustable configuration and extends at an acute angle to the conveyance direction across the conveyance surface of the wide belt conveyor whereby the green pellets discharged over the edge form a layer on the conveyance surface. A plurality of parallel deck bars are axially slidably connected to the vibrating conveyor deck and have end portions protruding therefrom in the conveyance direction, the protruding deck bar ends defining the discharge edge. The deck bars are connected to drives for axially sliding the deck bars for adjusting the discharge edge configuration.

    摘要: A suction-sintering charge of high permeability and stable structure is produced on a mobile suction-sintering grate or in a stationary or mobile suction-sintering pan by form compacting a moist material mixture (18) to be sintered to form a coherent cake (19), held together mainly by capillary forces, which cake is then broken into pieces having a size suitable to form a suction-sinter charge. The water content of the material mixture (18) is adjusted so that substantially the minimum of fuel is consumed at the intended sintering temperature and the compaction pressure is so adapted relative to the selected water content, corresponding substantially to the minimum fuel consumption, that the pore volume of the resultant cake is not totally filled by the amount of water present in said mixture.

    摘要: An apparatus for and a method of controlling the temperature differential between different surfaces or walls of a structural member such as a hollow box beam, and a structural member whose temperature differential is so controlled. The invention has important utility in the combination in which it controls the temperature differential between the opposite walls of the box beam which conventionally supports the horizontal stripper member used for stripping hot ore pellets or the like from the surface of a grate conveyor or the like since one of the walls of the box beam which supports the horizontal stripper is normally subjected to much higher temperatures than the opposite wall thereof, causing undesirable deflection of the beam. In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, a partition is provided inside the hollow box beam at a predetermined spacing from the hotter wall, whereby to define a cooling chamber for the hotter wall, and cooling air is circulated through the cooling chamber at a predetermined velocity and pressure, whereby to reduce the temperature of the hotter wall and thereby reduce the temperature differential between the two opposite walls of the box beam. Means may be provided for sensing the temperature differential between the opposite walls of the beam and for controlling a variable or variables such as the velocity and pressure of air passing through the cooling chamber as a function of the sensed temperature differential whereby to maintain the temperature differential between the opposite walls at an acceptable value.
