摘要: A very high brisance metal powder explosive is created by including a multitude of hollow aluminum/aluminum oxide micro-particle shells deposited within a high explosive composition matrix. The interior of such micro-particle shells may contain air, nitrogen, other gases, combinations thereof, or possibly even be a vacuum. The invention might be used on warheads that are fragmentation warheads, explosively formed penetrators, air blast warheads, shaped charge jets of shaped charge warheads, or other high explosive-driven devices.

摘要: A dart tail fin assembly includes a cylindrical dart body with a nose, a tail opposite the nose and an outer surface extending from the nose to the tail. A plurality of tail fins is attached to and spaced around the outer surface of the dart body. Each one of the tail fins includes a trailing edge aligned with the tail of the dart, a leading edge opposite the trailing edge toward the nose of the tail, a length from the trailing edge to the leading edge and a flat portion disposed at leading edge extending perpendicularly outward from the outer surface a first width. Each tail fin is detached from the outer surface of the dart body along a portion of the length extending back from the leading edge.

摘要: A cloud detonation initiator on a fuel-air-explosive (FAE) weapon in the form of a high-explosive retrolauncher attached thereto wherein a plurality of gun tubes each deploy an explosive grenade rearwardly to compensate for the forward motion of the FAE weapon. The grenades are essentially stopped in space as the cloud forms around them. The retrolauncher includes a plurality of different size charges in operative communication with a single chamber so that the velocity of the grenades can be controlled within a predetermined range by selectively detonating the charges singly and in combination.

In an explosive fragmentation assembly, a length of explosive cord having airborne suspension means at one end and an impact fuze at the other end, a plurality of inverted frustoconical pellets secured in spaced relation on and along said cord in progressively decreasing intervals from said impact fuze to said airborne suspension means, each said frustoconical pellet having a side surface formed at a predetermined angle, and a frustoconical casing snugly embracing the side surface of said frustoconical pellet and having a series of grooves in its surface defining fragments to be projected in a line substantially normal to the side surface of said frustoconical pellet on detonation of said impact fuze.
