Abstract:
A recycling kiosk (100) for recycling and financial remuneration for submission of a mobile telephone (150) is disclosed herein. The recycling kiosk (100) preferably includes an inspection area (106) with a plurality of white walls (115) in order to perform a visual analysis of the mobile telephone (150) for determination of a value of the mobile telephone (150). The visual analysis inspects the LCD screen (153) of the mobile phone (150) to determine if the LCD screen (153) is damaged. The recycling kiosk (100) also includes a processor (160), a display (119) and a user interface (118).

Abstract:
An apparatus for assessing a mobile device comprises a housing with a faraday cage. The faraday cage may include a chamber having an ingress mechanism allowing a user to position the mobile device within the chamber, a wireless transceiver coupled to one or more antennas, and one or more imaging devices. The apparatus may also include one or more processors communicatively coupled to the wireless transceiver and the imaging device(s). When the mobile device is positioned within the chamber, the processor(s) may use the wireless transceiver to establish a wireless communication link with the mobile device, and use the imaging device(s) to capture one or more images of the mobile device. Alone or in conjunction with a remote server, the apparatus may use information obtained from the mobile device, and/or one or more images of the mobile device, to assess the mobile device for various purposes.
Abstract:
Hardware and software application systems and associated methods for obtaining information from, evaluating, and pricing mobile phones, tablet computers, laptop computers, and/or other electronic devices for recycling and/or other processing are described herein. In various embodiments, the present technology includes systems and methods associated with an electronic evaluator device that facilitates processing (e.g., purchasing at a consumer-operated kiosk) a target device. In some embodiments, the present technology includes using an app on the evaluator device to obtain information from the target device, identify the target device, evaluate the target device, price the target device, etc. Various other aspects of the present technology are described herein.
Abstract:
A disposable wireless telephone and a method of using a disposable wireless telephone capable of use for telephonic communications only for a limited period, and only for telephonic communications initiated at the disposable wireless telephone, within which limited period the sum of the durations of the telephonic communications reach the duration of the limited period, after which limited period the telephone is rendered inoperative and is discarded.
Abstract:
A recyclable cellular telephone is disclosed having an inner rigid cellular electronics supporting frame member surrounded by a replaceable outer cover. The telephone is acquired having a limited period of use. The electronics of the telephone operate to disable the telephone following expiration of the period of use. Following expiration of the period of use, the telephone is returned for refurbishment where the outer cover is stripped and replaced and the electronics tested before being recycled with a new period of use for another acquisition. The cellular network supporting telephone operation also monitors the period of use, disabling telephone access to the network following expiration. Directory numbers are selectively assigned to the recyclable telephones from a pool of available numbers, with assigned numbers returned to the pool after expiration of a predetermined period or telephone deactivation for re-use by another recyclable telephone. The recyclable telephones are activated and deactivated in a number of ways, including through the use of a separate activation and deactivation station which communicates with the telephones over a radio frequency communications link.
