Abstract:
A filter element according to the invention comprises a filter volume having an inflow side and an outflow side defining an average flow direction. The filter volume has an axis substantially parallel to the average flow direction and further comprising a casing delimiting the outer boundary of the filter volume in the direction of the average flow path. The casing is gas impermeable in radial direction. The filter volume is filled with a filter material comprising fibers, a majority of the fibers at least partially encircle the axis.
Abstract:
To improve in pulse cleaning of filters, a filter element includes a media pack of Z-media having first and second opposite flow faces and a side wall extending between the first and second flow face. A gasket is secured to the side wall. The gasket has a sealing portion and an attachment portion. The sealing portion has a flat surface at least one inch long and is located between being planar with and 0.5 inches recessed from the first flow face, inclusive. A dust collector includes a housing with a dirty air inlet, a clean air outlet, and an interior; a tubesheet in the housing interior having a plurality of openings; a plurality of panel- style filter elements mounted in a respective one of the openings in the tubesheet; and a plurality of blowpipes, with each being oriented to direct a fluid pulse at a respective one of the panel-style filter elements. The filter elements include a media pack of Z-media, a gasket that is between planar with and 0.5 inches recessed from the first flow face, in which the gasket forms a seal with the tubesheet. The blowpipes direct a pulse at an angle that is not normal to a plane of the openings in the tubesheet and not in line with a general direction of filtration flow through the filter element. A method of cleaning a filter element installed in a dust collector includes providing a filter element and periodically pulsing a jet of gas into the downstream flow face to cause at least some particulate material on an upstream side of the Z-media to be removed from the Z-media.
Abstract:
A filter element including a winding core (308), a sheet of fluted filter media (110), a relief notch (300), and an adhesive. The winding core has a pair of ends (130, 132) spaced apart from each other and extending laterally between a pair of opposed sides (134, 136). The sheet of fluted filter media (100) is wound around the sides of the winding core (308). The relief notch is formed in one of the sides (134, 136) of the winding core. The adhesive (126) is received at least partially in the relief notch (300) and secures the fluted filter media (100) to the winding core (308). A method of making a filter element with a winding core having relief notches is also disclosed.
Abstract:
An air filtration media pack is provided having a plurality of layers of single facer media. The layer of single facer media includes a fluted sheet, a facing sheet, and a plurality of flutes extending between the fluted sheet and the facing sheet and having a flute length extending from a first face of the filtration media pack to a second face of the filtration media pack. A first portion of the plurality of flutes are closed to unfiltered air flowing into the first portion of the plurality of flutes, and a second portion of the plurality of flutes are closed to unfiltered air from flowing out of the second portion of the plurality of flutes so that air passing into one of the first face and the second face of the media pack and out the other of the first face and the second face of the media pack passes through media to provide filtration of the air. The fluted sheet includes repeating internal peaks facing toward the facing sheet and repeating external peaks facing away from the facing sheet. In addition, the fluted sheet can include at least one ridge extending along at least 50% of the flute length between an internal peak and an adjacent external peak. Additional characterizations of an air filtration media pack, air filtration media, and methods of making and using are provided.
