Abstract:
In certain example embodiments of this invention, improved seal systems that include flexible seals that are integrally formed (e.g., co-extruded) with other vehicle components, and/or methods of making the same, are provided. In certain example embodiments, some or all sealing system components may be integrated into trim and/or other components of the vehicle such as, for example, more structural elements of the vehicle that generally are required to be present. For instance, in certain example embodiments, the current U-shaped seal that typically is used to receive the glass of a window may be replaced with seal members attached to elements of the overall vehicle construct. Certain example embodiments accomplish this integration, for example, by forming seal members together with the trim components, e.g., as a part of the roll form and/or extruding processes.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A trim or weatherstrip assembly secured to an associated vehicle. The assembly includes a cover portion that overlies an associated vehicle adjacent an edge. A connection member is defined on the cover portion. A fastener portion includes a detent connection member having first and second portions for operatively and alternatively engaging the connection member in a shipping, first position and in an installed, second position.
Abstract:
The invention relates according to a first aspect to a sealing strip (11) for vehicle windows and according to a second aspect to a use of thermoplastics for producing such multilayered sealing strips (11), which comprise at least a first, elastic layer (12) made of a thermoplastic elastomer and a second, harder layer (13), the first layer (12) being implemented to exert a sealing function between a construction element (14) of the vehicle and a surface (15,15') of a windowpane (16) movable in relation to the sealing strip (11), and the second layer (13) being implemented as a visible cover for at least the largest, otherwise visible part of the first layer (12), and the first layer (12) and the second layer (13) being bonded to one another over essentially the entire length of the sealing strip (11). The sealing strips (11) as well as the use according to the invention are characterized in that the second layer (13) is made of a transparent or translucent polyamide.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a profiled decorative moulding for the window area of a motor vehicle, comprising a profiled part which is shaped preferably from plastic as a support for at least one decorative element. According to the invention, each decorative element is back-moulded with the plastic provided for the profiled element such that at least an area of the profiled part, which is not covered by the decorative element, protrudes the lateral edge thereof. The protruding area of the profiled part is designed as an elastically deformable lip. Each decorative element is a blank from a film and each elastically deformable lip is designed as an injection of the profiled part which, as a result, comprises a hard and a soft material component. The back-moulded profiled part is fixed to a dedicated location of the window area by means of connecting auxiliary means, such as for example adhesives or latch elements.
Abstract:
A weatherstrip assembly is provided for a motor vehicle door frame. The weatherstrip assembly includes a sealing molding having a mounting portion adapted to be attached to the door frame. The weatherstrip assembly also includes an insert having a main body and a head fixedly secured thereto. The head is disposed within the mounting portion of the sealing molding. The insert and the sealing molding define an insert cavity therebetween. A molding substrate is disposed within the insert cavity to bond the insert with the sealing molding and provide a finished appearance at one end of the sealing molding.
Abstract:
A weatherstrip (30) for an automotive vehicle includes a rigid core (42) formed from a first material encompassed in an extrusion body (40) of an elastomeric material. A show surface (44), such as anodized metal or stainless steel, is roll-formed and then coextruded in a coextrusion die with the rigid core. A removable layer (94) protects an outer face (90a) the show surface during extrusion and post processing steps of manufacture. The integrated arrangement of the cosmetic strip reduces manufacturing and assembly costs, while providing the desired aesthetic appearance to the weatherstrip.
Abstract:
A window surround assembly is provided for a motor vehicle door frame defining a window opening. The window surround assembly includes a fixed windowpane adapted to be disposed within a portion of the window opening. An upper reveal extends along a top edge of the fixed windowpane and is adapted to be mounted to a portion of the motor vehicle door frame. An outer belt extends along a bottom edge of the fixed windowpane and is adapted to be mounted to a portion of the motor vehicle door frame. A window encapsulation is molded to an outer periphery of the fixed windowpane to secure the upper reveal and the outer belt to the fixed windowpane. A cap is fixedly secured to and extends along the upper reveal and the outer belt to provide the window surround assembly with a seamless, joint-free appearance.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a device (1) for fixing an ornamental profiled section (2) on a portion of a shaped band (3) mounted on a glazing (4) and in particular on at least part of the periphery of the glazing, said device comprising at least one rigid clip (5) having at least one upstream co-operating part A designed to allow co-operation with said shaped band (3) and a downstream co-operating part B designed to allow co-operation with said ornamental profiled section (2). The invention is characterized in that said upstream co-operating part A comprises at least one projecting male element (6) or a hollow female element, said element co-operating respectively with a corresponding hollow female element (7) or a projecting male element provided in the shaped band (3), said hollow female element (7) having inner dimensions at least partly smaller to the outer dimensions of said projecting male element (6).
