Abstract:
A device (100) for evaluating a network related relevance of a network element (201) 5 linked to one or more further network elements (202 to 206) in a network (200), the device (100) comprising a determination unit (103) adapted for determining the network related relevance of the network element (201) based on a quantitative occurrence of the network element (201) in hits of a number of predetermined network element patterns (207), at least a part of the number of predetermined 10 network element patterns (207) being indicative of a link between at least two network elements (208, 209) representing a part of the network (201).
Abstract:
Systems and methods for mapping and analyzing vulnerabilities in networks. In one embodiment network is mapped, comprising: converting network line data into point data; associating the point data with cells of a grid overlaying the network; and analyzing the network by determining the relationship of the point data to the cells of the grid.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system and method for providing users of web-accessible E-mail services with improved access to their E-mail messages and other information. In a first embodiment, a SPAM-control feature of a web-accessible electronic mail service is provided to a user of a mail-enabled application running on the user's client machine by software which integrates with the mail-enabled application. The software scans E-mail messages for a bulk-indicating indicia inserted by SPAM detection software running on a remote machine, and an E-mail message identified as including such bulk-indicating indicia is routed to a bulk folder. In a second embodiment, access to a search tool is provided to users of a web-accessible electronic mail service by software which integrates with a mail-enabled application running on a user's client machine. The software displays a field within a user interface of the mail-enabled application for receiving user input of a search term. The search term is used to build a URL that is communicated to a web-accessible E-mail service. A browser is launched to display at least one page resulting from the communication of the URL.
Abstract:
According to the present invention, there is provided a SAN management system to provide autonomic management of a storage system using an action-centric approach. The SAN management system includes a policy specification logic block (26) to maintain a policy specification associated with the managed system. In addition, the SAN management system includes a reasoning logic block to provide for the determining of action rules using a combination of logic and information obtained from the policy specification. Also, the SAN management system includes a learning logic block (30) to couple the policy specification logic block (26) with the reasoning logic block (30) to improve an understanding of a managed system. The learning is continuous and provides for autonomic evolvement of the system in which reliance on manual input from a user is lessened.
Abstract:
Described herein is a fault diagnosis system for diagnosing faults in complex equipment. The system includes means for storing a set of diagnostic signatures which relates a set of known faults which may occur in the equipment to respective fault symptoms which are deemed indicative of said known fauts; and means for processing the diagnostic signatures and a set of fault symptoms identified for a current state of the equipment to calculate diagnostic data for identifying a fault causing the current state of the equipment. The diagnostic data includes a plurality of values which are indicative of different relative non-zero likelihoods of each of a plurality of different known faults causing the current state of the equipment.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention describes a system and method for using agent-based distributed case-based reasoning to manage a computer network. In particular, the system includes interface agents, distributed case-based reasoning agents, and response agents, which run on hosts in the network. An interface agent monitors a resource in the network and reports an event to an appropriate distributed case-based reasoning agent. The distributed case-based reasoning agent, using one or more case bases, determines a response to the event. An appropriate response agent implements the response.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus intuitively to administer all components (104) of a networked computer system by use of real dimensional views of any component (104) or any set of components, including components related to a specific business interest, and with customizable and fully extensible functionality, across heterogeneous platforms and applications. Navigation and configuration tools (101) are provided, with an intelligent cursor, to travel to and address any component (104) thereof, or subset of components, with status and abnormalities identified, monitored and controlled, and by hierarchical filtration, and aggregation correlation with asynchronous notification. Graphical presentation tools are also provided employing an enhanced zooming graphical display.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an emergent network that is autonomous at the service level. Network nodes have policies that enable them to process different types of services request, with the processing earning the nodes "rewards". Successful nodes can pass some or all of their policies to other nodes using the evolutionary biology of bacteria as a model.
Abstract:
The present invention uses fuzzy logic to network statistical patterns and to identify wireless links in a communication channel (Figure 11, 102). The system sends and receives handshake packets, then calculates the mean and variance in a measurement module (Figure 11, 101). The invention employs a fuzzy reasoning engine (Figure 11, 104) to infer quality of service parameters.
