For power efficient operation and enhanced performance, control parameters of the peripheral device such as duty cycle, sampling rate, and sleep state may be wirelessly and automatically controlled by the mobile device. Furthermore, the mobile application can provide a wireless energy signal to the peripheral device to recharge the battery of the peripheral device. The control parameters may be automatically controlled by the mobile application dependent on the user's location, activity, mode of transportation or other parameters without intervention from a user.

A computer implemented method for monitoring and managing one or more objects on granular object level across datacenters is provided. The method includes following steps: (i) creating an application id; (ii) searching the one or more objects across the datacenters; (iii) adding the one or more objects to the application ID; (iv) monitoring configurations of the one or more objects; (iv) providing a graphical depiction of logs of the one or more objects; (v) providing an option to check a work order and configuration changes of the one or more objects; (vi) providing a graphical depiction of the configuration changes occurred on the one or more objects over a period of time; (vii) providing a trend graph for the one or more objects; and (viii) creating a new rule for the application ID to monitor and manage the one or more objects on granular object level.

Control of uploading of status notifications issued by network elements (20), to a management system (10, 390, 420, 450, 490), includes closing (200) a communication session (499) used for the uploading, the first network element being capable of buffering subsequent status notifications while the communication session is closed. Another communication session between the management system and the first network element is opened (220) after a time interval (T2-T3) following the closing. The buffered status notifications are uploaded while the session is open, and the timing of the closing and opening is controlled by the management system to control how long the status notifications are buffered. There is less vulnerability to unauthorised access. By controlling the duration of the buffering, bottlenecks caused by peaks in flows at the management system are evened out.

The method may further comprise receiving at the appliance a configuration message, wherein the configuration message identifies at least one of the selected ones of the plurality of VDCs for which statistics are to be provided, at least one type of statistic to be provided for the selected ones of the VDCs, and a polling interval at which statistics are to be collected from the selected VDCs.

The configuration message is indicative of a reporting mode that is based on a probability function.
