Abstract: Systems and methods for generating neuroprotective and cardioprotective nutrition programs are described herein. These neuroprotective and cardioprotective nutrition programs are especially applicable for patients at risk of cardiac arrest (e.g. due to hypoxia or ischemia of the brain or other body parts). The programs may feature caloric restriction, for example, short-term caloric restriction. The programs may be generated or iteratively modified based on the hemodynamic and metabolic state of the patient's brain, limbs, or other tissues or organs. Dynamic feedback about the patient's hemodynamic and metabolic state may be provided by techniques including, but not limited to, optical technology for quantitatively and noninvasively measuring blood flow, oxygenation, metabolic rate of oxygen, and perfusion/metabolism ratio in the brain, limbs, or other tissues or organs. The systems described herein may also induce spreading depolarization and repolarization at specific times during or after cardiac arrest based on the patient's cerebral metabolic state.

Abstract: A system for detecting blood in an oral cavity during toothbrushing. The system may include a toothbrush having a sensor that is configured to emit first light at a first wavelength and second light at a second wavelength, receive reflected portions of the first and second light, and generate a first signal indicative of a first intensity of the reflected portion of the first light and a second signal indicative of a second intensity of the reflected portion of the second light. The system may include a processor operably coupled to the sensor, the processor being configured to receive the first and second signals and calculate a ratio of the first intensity to the second intensity to determine whether hemoglobin/blood is present in the oral cavity. The processor may be a part of the toothbrush or a part of a portable electronic device such as a smart phone.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system for obtaining therapeutic rehabilitation guidelines for a patient suffering from aphasia is described. The system comprises an input means for receiving evoked event-related potential data obtained through electroencephalography of a patient, the evoked event-related potential data being evoked by providing at least one predetermined language paradigm to the patient and the evoked event-related potential data comprising amplitude, latency and source information for the evoked event-related potentials. The system also comprises a processor for processing the evoked event-related potential data comprising evaluating whether one or more of an amplitude, latency or source are within normative values for said at least one predetermined language paradigm and deriving based thereon a therapy to be applied to the patient, and an output means for outputting the therapy instructions to be applied to the patient suffering from aphasia.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a medical imaging method for motion artifact detection. The method comprises: using (201-203) a k-space acquisition property for generating a motion-corrupted image having a motion artifact as caused by a first initial motion pattern such that the motion artifact is defined as function of a feature matrix and the motion-corrupted image; initializing (205) at least one feature map of a convolutional neural network, CNN, with values of the convolution matrix; training (207) the initialized CNN to obtain, in training images, motion artifacts caused by a second training motion pattern; obtaining (209) a motion artifact in an input image using the trained CNN.
