The present invention relates to a steering wheel for an automobile and a method for fabricating the same, and more particularly, to a steering wheel formed by being injection-molded twice for decreasing the deterioration and improving the productivity. The steering wheel for an automible includes: a metal frame including first and second portions; a rim including a first coating part covering the first portion, a second coating part covering the first coating part, and a third coating part covering the second portion; a plurality of spokes connected to the rim and installed at an inner side of the rim; a hub core connected to the plurality of spokes; and a steering axis connected to the hub core.

An article having an integrated structure comprising a first portion (2, 11, 21, 31, 41, 52, 61, 81, 101, 111, 122) made of composite material to which is coupled at least one second portion (3, 14, 22, 23, 32, 42, 43, 53, 64, 82, 102, 112, 123) made of thermoplastic or elastomer material injection moulded or cast onto the first portion. Between the first and the second portion there is placed a polymer film (4, 14, 24, 34, 44, 54, 68, 83, 104, 113, 125), compatible with the materials of the said first and second portions to improve the bond between the said portions. The process for the production of such an article is also described.

A steering wheel (1) has spokes (5) extending outwardly from a boss (3) to a rim (6). The rim has an inner frame (6) with an integrally moulded plastics coating (9) which has an internal cavity (11). The presence of the cavity minimises the overall weight of the steering wheel. The cavity is formed by initially injecting hot plastics material into a substantially vertical mould and subsequently blowing air into the lower part of the mould after some of the plastic adjacent the mould of walls has cooled.

The present invention involves a unitary composite article (10) and method of making same. The unitary composite article (10) comprises a one-piece, plastic body (14) and a stiffening material (26). The one-piece plastic body (14) includes a collapsible first portion having an inner cavity defined by an outer wall formed by an injection molding process. The plastic of the outer wall has a thickness which makes the outer wall susceptible to collapse into the inner cavity during normal usage of the article. The stiffening material (26) substantially fills the inner cavity by an injection process. The stiffening material (26) provides rigidity to the article (10) to prevent collapse of the outer wall into the inner cavity when the plastic body (14) experiences substantial external forces at the first portion during normal usage.

The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for manufacturing a steering wheel. The apparatus of the present invention comprises: a lower mold having a lower cavity for inserting a lower portion of a core therein; an upper mold having an upper cavity for inserting an upper portion of the core therein, wherein the upper cavity corresponds to the lower cavity; material injection means for injecting a raw material for foam resin into a core insertion space formed by bringing the lower cavity and the upper cavity into contact with each other; and heat supply means for foaming the injected raw material for a foam resin. The upper mold includes an upper-surface-forming movable body, which forms an upper surface of the upper cavity and which is movable; and a base body having a movable body insertion hole corresponding to the upper-surface-forming movable body. The upper-surface-forming movable body is movable in the upward and downward directions independently of the motion of the core being inserted into the upper cavity of the upper mold. The apparatus of the present invention can manufacture a steering wheel having uniform hardness and at a low defective ratio, even under the conditions in which the foam resin material is placed with a non-uniform thickness on an outer surface of the core, or in which the foam resin material is unevenly applied to the steering wheel when viewed as a whole.

본 발명은 발포수지재 스티어링 휠을 제조하는 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 제조장치는, 코어의 하부가 삽입되는 하부캐비티가 형성된 하부금형; 하부캐비티와 대응되고 코어의 상부가 삽입되도록 형성된 상부캐비티를 갖는 상부금형; 하부캐비티와 상부캐비티가 접촉되어 형성된 코어삽입공간에 발포수지 원료를 주입할 수 있는 원료주입수단; 및 주입된 발포수지 원료를 발포시키기 위한 열원공급수단;을 포함하여 구성되어 있되, 상기 상부금형은 상부캐비티의 상면을 이루면서 상, 하 이동이 가능한 상면형성이동체를 가지며, 상면형성이동체에 대응되어 이동체삽입홀이 형성된 베이스몸체를 갖고, 상기 상면형성이동체는 삽입되는 코어의 움직임과는 별도로 상, 하 이동하도록 되어 있다. 본 발명의 장치를 사용하면, 코어의 외측에 발포수지가 고른 두께로 위치되지 못하는 조건이나 스티어링 휠 전체로 볼때 발포수지가 많이 씌워지는 부분과 적게 씌워지는 부분이 있는 조건 등에서도 경도가 균일한 스티어링 휠을 얻을 수 있고, 불량률이 낮은 특징이 있다.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Lenkrads für ein Fahrzeug, insbesondere für ein Kraftfahrzeug, mit den folgenden Schritten: Herstellen eines Lenkradskeletts mit einem Nabenkörper (4), einem Lenkradkranz (1) und mindestens einer Speiche (2, 3) durch Bereitstellen eines Nabeneinsatzes (5), Spritzgießen einer Kunststoffmatrix um den Nabeneinsatz (5) zur Bildung des Nabenkörpers (4), wobei der Nabenkörper (4) eine einen Innenbereich ausbildende hohlraumartige Form aufweist und im Innenbereich des Nabenkörpers (4) Verstärkungsstrukturen (43) angeordnet sind, Spritzgießen und/oder Gasinnendruck- bzw. Wasserinnendruck-Spritzgießen der mindestens einen Speiche (2, 3) und des Lenkradkranzes (1) aus der Kunststoffmatrix, wobei die mindestens eine Speiche (2, 3) den Nabenkörper (4) mit dem Lenkradkranz (1) verbindet, und zumindest teilweises Überziehen des Lenkradskeletts mit einem Überzug. Die Erfindung betrifft ferner ein mit diesem Verfahren herstellbares Lenkrad.
