Abstract: Devices and methods for automatic application of mapping functions to video signals based on inferred parameters are provided. In one example, a method, including initiating display of content based on a video signal being processed by a device, is provided. The method may further include in response to at least a first change in an intensity of ambient light or a second change in a color of the ambient light subsequent to the initiating of the display of the content based on the video signal, selecting a first mapping function applicable to pixels corresponding to frames of the video signal based at least on a first inferred parameter from a selected machine learning model. The method may further include automatically applying the first mapping function to a first plurality of pixels corresponding to a first set of frames of the video signal.

Abstract: A method for the delayed processing of image data captured by a wrist-wearable device is provided. The method includes receiving, at a wrist-wearable device, image data having a first resolution. The method includes, responsive to receiving the image data having the first resolution, storing the image data on the wrist-wearable device. The method further includes downscaling at least a portion of the image data to produce downscaled image data having a second resolution and presenting, on the wrist-wearable device, the downscaled image data having the second resolution. The method further includes receiving a request to send a representation of the image data to a device distinct from the wrist-wearable device. Responsive to the request, the method includes causing image-processing algorithms to be applied to the stored image data such that processed image data is generated and made available at the distinct device.

Abstract: A display device dynamically determines a duration of the illumination period for a display frame to adjust an average brightness of a display device as the framerate dynamically changes. The display device includes a backlight unit (BLU) for providing light for displaying an image, a plurality of pixels for modulating the light provided by the BLU, and a controller circuit for controlling the BLU. The controller circuit measure a duration of a previous frame and determine a duration for an illumination period of a current frame based on the measured duration of the previous frame. The control circuit then controls the BLU based on the determined duration of the illumination period for the current frame.

The variable feedback loop in one example has a variable resistance to selectively generate a high brightness image when the eyewear is operated outside, or in a high ambient light setting, and to selectively generate a nominal brightness image when the eyewear is operated inside. A controller selectively controls the drive current delivered to the colored light source to control the brightness mode of the image.
