Abstract: The technical problem of enhancing the quality of an image captured in low light conditions by a front facing camera is addressed by providing an adaptive front flash system. An adaptive front flash system automatically adjusts configuration parameters of an overlaid view that operates in lieu of a front flash, termed a front flash view. The configuration parameters are adjusted based on characteristics of the output of the digital image sensor of the front facing camera. Examples of configuration parameters of the front flash view include one or more of brightness of the display, color temperature of the front flash view, and transparency of the front flash view.

Abstract: A digital loupe system is provided which can include a number of features. In one embodiment, the digital loupe system can include a stereo camera pair and a distance sensor. The system can further include a processor configured to perform a transformation to image signals from the stereo camera pair based on a distance measurement from the distance sensor and from camera calibration information. In some examples, the system can use the depth information and the calibration information to correct for parallax between the cameras to provide a multi-channel image. Ergonomic head mounting systems are also provided. In some implementations, the head mounting systems can be configurable to support the weight of a digital loupe system, including placing one or two oculars in a line of sight with an eye of a user, while improving overall ergonomics, including peripheral vision, comfort, stability, and adjustability. Methods of use are also provided.

In one aspect, a method includes obtaining a selection of a particular display condition for a display panel from among different display conditions for the display panel, selecting, based on the selection of the particular display condition, a set of weights for a set of basis functions from among different sets of weights that correspond to the different display conditions for the display panel, determining a gamma lookup table for the particular display condition for the display panel based on the set of weights that were selected and the set of basis functions, and remapping an image to be output on the display panel based on the gamma lookup table for the particular display condition.

A method includes receiving an indication of a configuration update of an imaging system, processing a test image using the image display system to generate updated test image pixel data for display on the imaging system, determining if the updated test image pixel data is different than the ground truth pixel data of the test image by more than a quality threshold, and in response to the updated test image pixel data being different than the ground truth pixel data of the test image by more than the quality threshold, generate in indicator that the configuration change adversely affected the image generation properties of the imaging system.

Abstract: A method and device for reducing power consumption of display devices proposes to reduce the total amount of light emitted in a perceptually indistinguishable manner based on the on the human visual sensitivity at the position of a pixel. The visibility of the processing can be made to remain provably below threshold, whereas other techniques may not be able to provide such proof. This is achieved by determining a minimum detectable modulation or a corresponding just-noticeable difference based on frequency intensity information for a pixel representative of how much there is of a set of frequencies at the pixel and a contrast sensitivity function representative of a model of human vision that predicts which contrasts at which frequencies are visible to the human eye. Pixel values may be reduced based on this minimum detectable modulation or just-noticeable difference. The contrast sensitivity function may be given by Barten's model and the frequency intensity information may be based on a hierarchical map built using a discrete wavelet transform or a continuous wavelet transform.

Abstract: A multi-view (MV) transportation hub information system is provided, which includes: a MV display including one or more multi-view (MV) pixels, wherein each MV pixel is configured to emit beamlets in different directions; a sensing system configured to detect a first location of a first blob and a second location of a second blob; an input node configured to receive a first attribute of a first viewer and a second attribute of a second viewer; and a system controller configured to perform user tagging to tag the first blob with the first attribute and to tag the second blob with the second attribute. The system controller controls the MV pixels to project a first image based on the first attribute to the first viewer tagged with the first blob, and to project a second image based on the second attribute to the second viewer tagged with the second blob.
