Abstract:
A pillow is provided that includes a foam core and a gel insert molded to each side of the foam core. Methods of producing a pillow are further provided and include a step of providing a foam molding system having a top mold defining a plurality of air ports and a bottom mold defining a plurality of air ports. A vacuum is applied to the plurality of air ports in both the top mold and bottom mold, and a gel insert is then positioned against each of the plurality of air ports. A foam precursor is subsequently dispensed into the bottom mold atop the gel insert, and the top mold is secured to the bottom mold. The foam precursor then expands within the foam molding system and bonds with the two gel inserts to produce a pillow having a gel insert molded to each side of the pillow.
Abstract:
A cover assembly for a mattress is provided that includes a first cover and a second cover. The first cover includes a top panel a bottom panel, and a continuous side pane! collectively defining a cavity for enclosing the mattress. The second cover includes a top surface and a bottom surface, with the second cover being positioned over and dimensionaliy-sized to cover at least (he top panel of the first cover. A fastener then connects the second cover to the firs t cover along the perimeter of the second cover. Methods for marking a mattress are also provided that include the step of marking an indicia indicative of a characteristic of a mattress on the top surface of the second cover of the cover assembly.
Abstract:
An exemplary bed assembly is provided that includes an alignment system for aligning a mattress assembly on a foundation. An alignment member has two curved ends and an elongated center segment, the elongated center segment positioned between the two curved ends and having a length sufficient to span the width of a mattress. A bracket engages the two curved ends of the alignment member and is secured to the foundation.
Abstract:
Mattress covers are provided that allow access to a mattress surrounded by the by the mattress covers. The mattress covers include a lower portion having a bottom panel and a border defining a well, a first panel positioned over the lower portion and configured to cover the well, a first fastener for connecting the perimeter of the first panel to the upper rim, a second panel positioned over the first panel, and a second fastener for connecting the perimeter of the second panel to the upper rim. Mattress assemblies incorporating the mattress covers and having a mattress that includes a body supporting portion and a base portion are also provided.
Abstract:
A support cushion for is provided that includes a core comprised of a first flexible foam and a sleeve comprised of a second flexible foam. The sleeve has a first side and a second side opposite the first side that together encapsulate the core. The support cushion further includes an amount of phase change material that is incorporated into at least one of the first side or the second side of the sleeve.
Abstract:
A patient monitoring system detects physiological signals from a patient during an MRI examination. The patient monitoring system wirelessly transmits data associated with the physiological signals to a remote base unit. The wireless transmission of data is carried out in a manner to not be disruptive to the MRI examination.
Abstract:
A base unit operable with a wireless patient monitoring unit used to acquire physiological data during an MRI examination is constructed to have a detachable display unit. The detachable display unit wirelessly communicates with the base unit when in a roving mode. The detachable display unit may also have a magnetically-hardened power supply that does not saturate during an MRI examination. Such a magnetically-hardened power supply allows the display unit to operate when proximate or in the magnetic field generated by an MRI machine during an MRI examination.
Abstract:
A pillow includes an inferior portion and an outer portion. The interior portion is comprised of a first flexible foam, while the outer portion is comprised of a second flexible foam having a density different than that of the first flexible foam. Methods of producing a pillow are also provided whereby either a first foam precursor is dispensed into a central portion of a mold to provided a first flexible foam, or a pre-formed foam insert comprised of a first flexible foam is placed into a central portion of a mold. A second foam precursor is then subsequently dispensed into a peripheral portion of the mold to produce a second flexible foam having a density different than that of the first flexible foam. Upon reaction and expansion of the foam precursors, a molded foam pillow is produced having dual densities.
Abstract:
An assembly for removing liquid byproducts from a piece of foam includes a body engageable with the foam for applying a compressive force to the foam, thereby causing liquid byproducts in the foam to migrate toward a surface of the foam, a vaporization device to facilitate evaporation of the liquid byproducts from the surface of the foam, and a filter for capturing the evaporated byproducts.
Abstract:
A pillow is provided that includes a latex foam to provide comfort and support to the body of a user. The pillow includes a latex foam layer connected to at least one additional foam component. An internal foam layer is also included in the pillow, with the latex foam layer and the additional foam component disposed about the internal foam layer.
