A rim for mounting a tire includes a base portion and a rim portion. The rim portion includes a rim segment, a first flange segment positioned on one side and a second flange segment positioned on an opposite side of the rim segment. The rim segment defines a circular curvature and has an original rim width measured along a rotation axis of the rim between inward facing surfaces of the first flange segment and the second flange segment. A band is positioned around a circumference of the rim segment contiguous with an inward facing surface of the first flange segment. The rim portion has an adjusted rim width, measured between a band inward facing surface and the inward facing surface of the second flange segment, which is different from the original rim width.

A plurality of embodiments of a method and apparatus for retreading individual tires using one or more electrical heating bands and a component or device to apply a force to the retread tire package comprising a new or used core and a new retread along with an adhesive. In particular, the force may be applied using one or more plates that are connected to actuators for pushing the plates into the retread package to apply the force during curing of the package.

A method for preparing a retreaded tire is provided in which a bottom tread surface is configured to introduce microroughness and macroroughness thereon for adhesion with a tire carcass during a retread process. A tire tread having a tread bottom surface so configured is also provided.

A method for the production of tyre carcasses which have an outer surface (13) with one or more connecting elements (14) which can be connected to one or more corresponding connecting elements integral with a preformed tread (15) to produce a tyre. The method comprises the operating steps of: -taking a worn radial tyre (2) at least with radial plies (3) inside it; -removing a circumferential outer layer (6) of the radial tyre; -applying a covering layer (12) of uncured rubber in place of the outer layer (6); and-creating the surface of the carcass (1), with one or more connecting elements (14), by vulcanising the covering layer (12) in a suitable mould.

The present invention is a process for making an entire truck tire tread comprising the steps of securing tread mold segments comprising plates to a flat backing, placing a blank tread on the mold segments, and pressing the blank tread against the mold segments. The invention also comprises this process wherein the tread mold segments comprising plates are formed by the steps of machining at least one side of a plate so that the peak to peak variation of the plate surface is less than 5 microns, securing the plates to a flat backing; and machining a reverse tread pattern onto the secured plates. The present invention also comprises a process for making a mold for a tire tread comprising the steps of securing tread mold segments comprising plates of at least two different thicknesses to a flat backing, and machining a reverse tread pattern comprising ridges onto the secured plates, where the thickness of the plate under the ridge is chosen so that the width to height ratio of a ridge on a plate is not less than 1:10.

An improved autoclave for curing retread tires includes a chamber with circulating air flow having turbulence generating devices located in a middle lengthwise portion of the chamber. The turbulence generating devices include apertures to guide air from a supply duct into the chamber, and/or wedge-shaped elements of fins mounted on the interior wall of the chamber to disrupt the air flow and cause turbulence.

A retreaded tire assembly (66) and method for making the same is disclosed. The method and assembly provide for the application of new tread (60) to a buffed tire casing (12) with only a layer of cushion gum (50) disposed therebetween. The cushion gum (50) is applied directly to the buffed circumference (44) of a tire casing (12) without the use of conventional spray cement normally applied to the buffed surface (44) of the entire casing.
