Improved needles made of a particular plastic material Needle comprising a polyarylene material comprising a polyarylene. The needle can meet all the advantages of metal, while avoiding its drawbacks. It has a high rigidity and ductility, and is excellent in penetrability and ability to hold a sharp edge. It is easily disposable and recyclable. It is non toxic and non irritant.

É descrito um processo de preparação de selo inteligente e de soluções em ampolas, além de composições à base de polímeros conjugados para monitoramento de doses de radiação, o selo e as soluções compreendendo soluções em solvente orgânico de i) um polímero eletrônico (1-2000 μg/mL) e pelo menos um cristal orgânico, cristal inorgânico ou pigmento luminescente (1-2000 μg/mL), ou ii) uma combinação de polímeros eletrônicos (1-2000 μg/mL) obtendo soluções dos ditos materiais luminescentes. O selo em forma de filme é obtido por secagem sobre placas de vidro das soluções de materiais luminescentes. Materiais preferidos são poli(2-metóxi,5-etil(2-hexilóxi)-p-fenilenovinileno) (MEH-PPV) como polímero e [alumínio-tris(8-hidroxiquinolina)] (Alq3) como cristal orgânico, além de vários pigmentos orgânicos e inorgânicos. Os usos do selo e soluções em ampola são amplos, como dosímetros de radiação tanto ionizante como não ionizante, em fins terapêuticos e tecnológicos, como em tecnologia de alimentos submetidos a radiação para retardar o amadurecimento.

Compositions for use in hole transporting layers (HTLs) or hole injection layers (HILs) are provided, as well as methods of making the compositions and devices fabricated from the compositions. OLED devices can be made. The compositions comprise at least one conductive conjugated polymer, at least one semiconducting matrix component that is different from the conductive conjugated polymer, and an optional dopant, and are substantially free of an insulating matrix component.

Compositions comprising blends of polyphenylene and poly(aryl ether sulfone) and methods for making such blends are disclosed. Miscible blends of polyphenylene and poly(aryl ether sulfone) are also disclosed. The blends are useful in numerous applications such as in the preparation of articles and of foams having reduced density.

Disclosed is a biocompatible ophthalmic device comprising: a core material; a first component which is coating the surface of the core material; and a second component which is linked to the first component by a bond; wherein the first component comprises cross-links of at least one catecholamine compound and the second component comprises at least one antimicrobial peptide and/or at least one antimicrobial polymer. Also disclosed are methods of preventing, suppressing and/or treating an ophthalmic infection in an eye of a subject, devices for use in preventing, suppressing and/or treating an ophthalmic infection, methods of manufacturing biocompatible ophthalmic devices, and a kit for preparing the ophthalmic device. Preferably the ophthalmic device is a contact lens and the catecholamine compound is dopamine.
