Weiterhin wird zur Bestimmung der Position von Koordinaten der Grenzflächen und/oder Stoßstellen und/oder der Verteilung der Strangkomponenten im Strangquerschnitt elektromagnetische Strahlung mittels zumindest einer Strahlenquelle emittiert, welche den Strang zumindest teilweise durchdringt. Die elektromagnetische Strahlung wird nach dem zumindest teilweisen Durchdringen des Stranges mittels zumindest eines Strahlendetektors detektiert und hierdurch mindestens ein Messsignal erzeugt, wobei sich der Strang dabei relativ zu zumindest der einen Strahlenquelle bewegt. Dabei wird der Strang mittels elektromagnetischer Strahlung, welche mittels zumindest einer Strahlenquelle emittiert wird, aufweisend zumindest zwei sich voneinander unterscheidende Intensitäten, durchdrungen und über zumindest einen Strahlendetektor detektiert.
