Abstract:
Disclosed is an anti-misinsertion mechanism for a card connector defining a correct card thickness, the mechanism comprising: a body; a first link generally extending along the body, the first link including an actuator for actuating the first link to be rotated from a normal position toward an operating position upon detecting existence of the correct thickness of a partially-inserted card; and a second link provided with a stopper for selectively preventing full insertion of the card, the second link being pivoted to the body and operatively connected to the first link, thereby being rotatable between a normal position and an operating position relative to the normal and operating positions of the first link.
Abstract:
A memory card connector (18) includes a housing (20) defining a front receptacle area (34) communicating with a cavity (38) for receiving a memory card. A plurality of terminals (40) are mounted on the housing (20) in a side-by-side array transversely across a rear of the housing. The terminals (40) have contact portions (44) at a rear of the cavity (38) for engaging contacts on a side of the memory card. A blocking post (52) is disposed immediately in front of the contact portion (44) of at least one of the terminals (40) to prevent an erroneously inserted memory card from engaging the contact portion.
Abstract:
A foreign matter detecting mechanism for detecting a foreign matter other than an object to be carried in order to prevent illegal use of a card by detecting a foreign matter other than a card intruded into a card reader; and a carriage moving mechanism for use in the foreign matter detecting mechanism and an operating method thereof. The foreign matter detecting mechanism (1) comprises foreign matter detecting members (5a, 5b) having foreign matter engaging parts (6a, 6b) and advancing/retracting by moving to ward/away from a traveling passage (4), mechanism (29) for moving the foreign matter detecting members (5a, 5b) in a direction traversing the traveling passage (4), and means (8a, 8b) for detecting a foreign matter through the foreign matter detecting members (5a, 5b), wherein the foreign matter detecting members (5a, 5b) are fixed to the moving mechanism (29) such that the foreign matter (3) traverses every passable region when an object (2) is not present in the traveling passage (4), otherwise the foreign matter (3) moves while sliding on the lower surface of the object (2).
Abstract:
The invention concerns a card (7) reading device (1) comprising a housing (10) equipped with a keyboard (5), a display unit (4), a slot for inserting (8) the card (7) inside the housing (10) and a cover (2) protecting the keyboard and the display unit (4), when it is closed. A flap (6) is provided, integral with the cover (2) and fixed to the housing (10) by an element (3) enabling it to pivot and be brought underneath said housing (10). The flap (6) covers the insertion slot (8) when the cover (2) is closed, and serves as support base to incline the housing (10) when the cover (2) is open.
