Abstract:
This invention provides methods, apparatus, and systems for classifying addresses. An address is evaluated based upon a postal code or standardized postal code, such as a U.S. Postal Service ZIP+4 code, serving the address. If the address cannot be classified based on the standardized postal code, the address is classified based on additional information, such as a U.S. Postal Service delivery point code. A mailer may then determine whether the address is a business or residential (or non-business) address. Furthermore, a mailer may predict when surcharges may apply and compare the rates of various carriers.
Abstract:
A recommendations service recommends items to individual users based on a set of items that are known to be of interest to the user, such as a set of items previously purchased by the user. The service is used to recommend products to users of a merchant's Web site (30). The service generates the recommendations using a previously-generated table (60) which maps items (62) to lists (64) of "similar" items. The similarities reflected by the table (60) are based on the collective interests of the community of users. To generate personal recommendations, the service retrieves from the table (60) the similar items lists (64) corresponding to the items known to be of interest to the user. These similar items lists (64) are appropriately combined into a single list, which is then sorted and filtered to generate a list of recommended items. Also disclosed are various methods for using the current and/or past contents of a user's electronic shopping cart to generate recommendations.
Abstract:
This disclosure pertains to systems and methods for moving things from a Start Location to an End Location, which provide users with reduced costs, improved logistics, flexibility, a visualized supply chain, and powerful analytics. In some embodiments, the disclosed systems and methods include a user interface which accepts input from a user, then generates and presents a concrete collection of shipping options meeting user-defined route constraints.
Abstract:
A method, system, and computer program product provides efficient matching of shipments with carriers and real time online tracking of shipments. The method includes receiving a carrier input that includes a desired end destination of an equipment of the carrier, and a processor locating at least one available shipment having one of (i) a shipment pick-up point within a pre-established, shipment pick-up zone and (ii) a shipment delivery point within an acceptable shipment drop-off zone of the desired end destination. The processor dynamically determines and maps an optimal route and generates and displays an available shipment (AV) user interface (UI), with a complete route for the equipment from a desired starting point to the desired end destination. The processor then calculates and provides, via the AV UI, an opportunity cost of the shipment, based in part on a total number of empty miles associated with the route.
Abstract:
A system and method for generating shipping labels for shipping items to other countries. The shipping label can be based on shipping information for the item. The shipping label can also contain information about whether there was a landed cost guarantee associated with the item.
Abstract:
A system for enabling users to reserve space at attended delivery/pickup locations to at least substantially guarantee that the attended delivery/pickup locations will have capacity to receive parcels requested to be delivered to them. In various embodiments, the system is configured to substantially automatically reserve space in response to receiving a request to delivery one or more parcels to a particular attended delivery/pickup location. In other embodiments, the system is configured to enable users to reserve space at attended delivery/pickup locations.
Abstract:
Matches for load or transportation services with transportation service providers (TSPs) are established, and estimated arrival times are provided. A transportation service request is arranged and an estimate of time of arrival is made based on an estimation of a time for performing a delivery of the load or provide the transportation service, and the time of arrival estimate is adjusted by at least one external factor expected to affect transit time. An anticipated turn-around time for availability of the TSP is made for a subsequent leg or backhaul and the adjusted time of arrival estimate and the anticipated turn-around time are used to estimate a time of availability of the TSP for the subsequent leg or backhaul. An accepted bid for the subsequent leg or backhaul is made based on an estimated time of availability.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for facilitating the signature of documents. In various embodiments the system is configured to manage the transportation of the documents among users whose signature is required on the documents. The documents may include, for example, legal documents. In particular embodiments, the system is configured to deliver the documents to attended delivery/pickup locations associated with each user required to sign the document, facilitate each user's signature of the documents at the associated attended delivery/pickup location, and deliver the document to an end destination. The ultimate destination of the document may include an address associated with a user requesting signature of the document, or any other suitable location.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for re-routing parcels being delivered to attended delivery/pickup locations that have no capacity and/or ability to take delivery of the parcels. In various embodiments, in response to determining that the attended delivery/pickup location doesn't have sufficient capacity and/or ability to accept delivery of the parcel, the system is configured to: (1) re-route the parcel to a different location; or (2) hold the parcel for later delivery. In some embodiments, the system is configured to determine an appropriate response to determining that the attended delivery/pickup location cannot accept delivery of the parcel substantially automatically. In other embodiments, the system is configured to provide the parcel recipient with one or more re-routing options.
Abstract:
A computer system for ranking potential attended delivery/pickup locations is disclosed. In various embodiments, a user or computer system identifies an area in which to establish at least one attended delivery/pickup location. In a particular embodiment, the system receives data associated with potential attended delivery/pickup locations (e.g., attended delivery/pickup location candidates), including the specific characteristics of those candidates. The system then, based at least in part on the characteristics of each of the attended delivery/pickup location candidates, ranks the attended delivery/pickup location candidates and displays the rankings to a user for use in selecting the most suitable candidate for the area.
