Abstract:
A cyanoacrylate delivery system includes a package body containing a cyanoacrylate adhesive composition. The package body is composed of an inner layer of nitrile polymer and an outer layer of polypropylene or aluminum.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for joining objects which each have a surface consisting of a cellulosic material. A joining agent is applied to at least one of the surfaces consisting of cellulosic material and the surfaces consisting of cellulosic material are brought into contact with each other. The inventive method is characterised in that a solution of cellulose in an aqueous tertiary amine oxide, especially N-methylmorphine-N-oxide (NMMO), is used as the joining agent.
Abstract:
An adhesive composition for laminating multi-ply absorbent paper products is disclosed. The adhesive composition includes a dry strength binder material, a cationic wet strength resin, and an anionically stabilized titanium dioxide slurry. The cationic wet strength resin is made compatible with the anionically stabilized titanium dioxide slurry by adjusting the pH of the wet strength resin such that it is greater than the isoelectric point of the slurry before the wet strength resin is added to the adhesive composition. Methods of producing the adhesive composition and of laminating absorbent paper products using the adhesive composition are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Ultraviolet radiation curing of inks on game balls, golf balls and the like is disclosed. Production inks, logo inks and methods for forming production prints and logos on golf balls, game balls and the like are disclosed. To form an ultraviolet radiation curable water-insoluble production ink, at least an adhesion promoting component is added to an ink base. The adhesion promoting component is selected from the group consisting of a carboxylic acid functional monomer, a carboxylic acid functional oligomer, an ester functional monomer, an ester functional oligomer and mixtures thereof, the adhesion promoting component having at least one adhesion promoting functional moiety comprising at least about 2 moles of a carbonyl functionality per mole of the adhesion promoting component and being sufficient to maintain adhesion of the production ink of at least about 75 % of the inked surface to the topcoat and to the surface of the game ball or the golf ball after ultraviolet radiation curing and after coating the production ink with the topcoat. To form an ultraviolet radiation curable water-insoluble logo ink, at least a toughening agent is added to an ink base. The toughening agent is sufficient to maintain adhesion of the logo ink to the topcoat of at least about 75 % of the inked surface after ultraviolet radiation curing.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention relates to starch-based adhesive compositions comprising microfibrillatedcellulose ("MFC"). In addition to microfibrillated cellulose, these adhesive compositions comprise at least one starch and/or at least one starch derivative.
Abstract:
Pressure-sensitive adhesive formulations based on acrylic or rubber adhesives are provided in combination with an aluminum phosphorous salt intumescent flame retardant and a nitrogen containing flame retardant which can act as a blowing agent through thermal decomposition. These flame retardant additives can be incorporated into the adhesive in levels of 10 to 30 percent by weight. These formulations are then placed on a polymeric flame retardant substrate in either a single-sided or double- sided form.
Abstract:
There is disclosed: a wood adhesive composition comprising a protein and a poly(glycidyl ether); a method for using the wood adhesive composition to make a composite wood product; and composite wood products made using the wood adhesive composition.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an aqueous bonding composition comprising: (A) a saccharide; (B) a water-soluble synthetic resin; and (C) an inorganic acid ammonium salt, wherein the inorganic acid ammonium salt (C) comprises at least one selected from ammonium dihydrogen phosphate and ammonium chloride. The water-soluble synthetic resin (B) preferably comprises a polyvinyl alcohol-based compound. A wood-based material obtainable by using the aqueous bonding composition is also disclosed. The aqueous bonding composition is useful for improving performances such as bending strength, bending strength under wet condition, water-absorption thickness expansion coefficient, and peeling strength of a wood-based material in a balanced manner while the composition is capable of bonding at a comparatively low temperature and each component of the composition is excellent in compatibility.
