Abstract:
A tip over post includes a stanchion. The stanchion includes an annular cylinder. The annular cylinder includes a number of cuts defined along the longitudinal axis of the cylinder. A stanchion includes an annular cylinder. The annular cylinder includes a number of helical cuts defined along the longitudinal axis of the cylinder. The helical cuts comprise a number of perforations located along the helical cuts. The load the stanchion is to bear is based at least in part on the number of perforations located along the helical cuts. A method of arresting a fall includes installing a tip over post, and arresting a fall using the moment and linear expansion of the annular cylinder. The tip over post includes an annular cylinder including a number of helical cuts defined along the longitudinal axis of the cylinder. The helical cuts comprise a number of perforations located along the helical cuts.
Abstract:
A weighted support assembly for supporting an upright post. The support assembly comprises: - a base frame comprising: - an elongate base member attached to the post and extending outwards from the post; and - a plurality of upright elongate members ascending from the base member; - a plurality of weights stacked in layers upon the base member; and - a top frame comprising: - an elongate top member attached to the post and extending outwards from the post above the base member; and - a plurality of elongate members descending from the top member. The ascending members engage telescopically with corresponding said descending members, and each said weight defines a hole therethrough which is penetrated by at least one of said ascending or descending members.
Abstract:
I-beam-attachable lifeline system, including methods and apparatus, for worker safety. In some embodiments, the system may comprise a frame structure including upright columns and horizontal I-beams. The system also may comprise a pair of fittings connected to a horizontally-spaced pair of the I-beams. Each fitting may have a first hook component and a second hook component received on respective opposite edge regions of a flange of an I-beam of the pair of I-beams and attached to one another with a fastener such that the fitting spans the flange transversely and is supported by the I-beam. The system further may comprise a cable having opposite ends connected to the pair of fittings.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device comprising protective netting suitable for use as a barrier for any type of opening located at a height. The device uses a set of specially designed aluminium sections that can be produced in series and are easy to handle, as well as comprising mobile anchoring elements that engage with guides provided on the section in order to mount the mesh-type safety net that can be used as a containment barrier, preferably for balconies, windows and staircases, which reduces the risk of falls by children and/or careless persons, in a secure, cost-effective and aesthetically pleasing manner.
Abstract:
A scaffolding brick guard (20) comprises a panel (22) and at least two (hangers 28) for hanging the panel (22) vertically from a horizontal member of the scaffolding. Each hanger (28) has a first orientation in which it is substantially coplanar with the panel (22) and is attached to the panel (22) by means of a hinge whereby it is movable about an axis (32) into a second orientation not coplanar with the panel (22) to provide a hook to go over said horizontal member. When not in use a plurality of brick guards may be stacked by means of hollow conical stacking members (36) that nest together.
Abstract:
A safety device for use in a fall arrest or fall safety system includes an energy absorber to absorb energy in the event of a fall or other impulse event. The energy absorber is a resilient element (such as a tolerance ring) providing an interference fit between a first component of the device and a second component of the device. In the event of a fall arrestor other impulse event, the first and second components effect movement relative to one another, the interference fit being overcome, and the resilient element/tolerance ring acting to resist the relative movement thereby absorbing energy.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a bracket for use with a guard rail, and methods of manufacturing and installing same. The bracket includes a main body manufactured from flat sheet material. The main body has a foot portion including a mounting portion configured to engage with a building, where the mounting portion includes at least two bearing surfaces. The main body also includes a post portion extending from the foot portion, where the mounting portion is located at a distal end of the foot portion relative to the post portion. At least one recess is located in the post portion, including a bearing surface for directly or indirectly supporting a guard rail.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a safety system (1) for a roof, more particularly a pitched roof (2), comprising an anchor point (3) and a safety line (4) with which a person working on the roof (2) can be secured to the anchor point (3) or an accessory. A first coupling member (9) is attached to or forms part of the anchor point (3), a second coupling member (14) is attached to or forms part of the safety line (4) or accessory and is suitable for establishing a connection with the first coupling member (9). Further, the system comprises a means (11) for moving the second coupling member (14) to the first coupling member (9).
