Abstract:
A system for checking the payment of vehicle parking charges comprises, on the one hand, a vehicle-portable parking meter device (12) for paying vehicle parking charges and, on the other hand, a portable hand-held parking checker device (11) for checking parking charges. The parking meter device (12) comprises a contact or contactless storage chip (15) that is loadable with an amount of credit usable as parking fees, the storage chip being associated with an antenna (16) for wireless connection of the storage chip with a wireless-operable credit-loading device (17,303,403). The portable hand-held checker device (11) is usable by a parking inspector (13) to check the payment status of a parking meter device (12) that is installed in or on a parked vehicle (14). The checker device (11), when in the vicinity of the parked vehicle, is connectable with the parking meter device's storage chip via its antenna (16) using a local short-distance wireless or RPID or IR transmission whereby the parking inspector can check whether or not the parking meter device (12) has residual paid parking time.
Abstract:
A system for handling, organizing and storing floor mats includes a loading station and control center. The loading station can include a radio frequency identification device (RFID). The elevator RFID may communicate with the control center. The loading station may be connected to an elevator. The elevator may lift the mat to a primary collector conveyor. The control center may cause the mat to be moved to an organizer carousel wherein mats are stored, based on a set organization method. The control center may initiate the mats to be removed from the organizer carousel and moved to the off-going transfer conveyor, where the mats may then be rolled. The organizing and storing method of the system alleviates inefficiency of conventional handling, organizing and storing techniques.
Abstract:
Provided are a method and an apparatus for recognizing a serial number of paper money. The method includes: receiving an image of paper money including a plurality of figures and a plurality of characters and extracting an image of a character sequence of a portion on which the serial number is inscribed; dividing the image of the character sequence into character images having a predetermined pixel size; allocating the character images to an area having a predetermined pixel size, converting values of quantitated pixels of the area into numerical values, and arranging the values in a series of numerical sequences to generate input data; inputting the input data into a neural network which has learnt a plurality of pieces of basic character data of each character to allow the input data to coincide with the plurality of pieces of basic character data of the each character and outputting probability values depending on a number of cases of the plurality of pieces of basic character data; and arranging the probability values output from the neural network in a descending order, selecting a case according to first basic character data having the highest probability value, sequentially arranging characters corresponding to the case, and outputting the characters as a character sequence.
Abstract:
A disclosed player tracking unit provides a display and a player tracking controller designed or configured to provide a web-browser on the display. The player tracking unit may include one or more input devices that can receive selections associated with the web-browser. Furthermore, the player tracking unit can include a multimedia board for processing digitally formatted program files for output on the display.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to a system for simulated securities exchange wherein the securities comprise various entertainment industry concepts, such as television show scripts, scripts with talent attached, treatments, pilots, and video games in assorted stages of development. This invention relates more specifically to the establishment of an investment portfolio comprising one or more Pilot Option Participation Securities (POPS) or other entertainment creation securities. Such investment portfolios comprising one or more POPS may, for example, be prepared for listed and listed on a national exchange such as, for example, CBOE, AMEX, NASDAQ, foreign exchanges or bulletin board exchanges (BBX).
Abstract:
Vending machines (1) are located at various retail premises such as a shop, a forecourt, or a hotel. The machines (1) communicate via a mobile network (2) with a network operations centre (NOC) 3 having databases (4). The NOC (3) in turn communicates via the network (2) with various product supplier systems (10). Also, the NOC (3) communicates via a firewall (11) and the Internet with remote systems for reporting and archiving purposes. The machines (1) convert cash to credit, receiving money in cash or card form from customers and providing products in the form of data or codes having a value. The data or codes are printed. The range of products is extremely wide, and includes mobile phone top-up, international call credit, mobile phone content (logos, ring tones, games, or text alerts), and parking discs.

Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention concerns a franking device comprising a plurality of boxes (2) provided with doors (3), a managing unit (11), locks (4) adapted each to lock one door and individually controlled, position sensors (5) for the doors adapted to inform the management unit of a closed position, a weight sensor (9a, 9b) adapted to transmit to the managing unit an indication of the weight of a parcel placed in the box, and data input means (14). When a position sensor (5) for one door of a box detects a closed position, the managing unit (11) is adapted to: calculate a franking price of the parcel placed in said box based on the data supplied and the parcel weight indication; control the locking of the door; and maintain the door locked until of a code for recovering the parcel is identified.
