Abstract:
The invention relates to a wind instrument, for instance a saxophone or flute. The invention is based on the discovery that a wind instrument, for instance of copper or brass, can be markedly improved by at least one chemically applied coating of hard material. Such a coating applied to the inner side of the tube improves the sound. A coating of phosphor-nickel, preferably with PTFE, applied to the outer side of the instrument has an exceptionally attractive appearance and is less susceptible to scratching. If a coating is applied in swivel bearings of the valve mechanism, disturbing mechanical sounds are reduced and the mechanism moves with less resistance.
Abstract:
A musical instrument therapy device for providing strengthening therapy for sleep apnea treatment. Utilization of the device can help to strengthen the user's muscles of the throat and tongue, which can help the user to maintain an open airway during sleep (reduce airway collapse) and prevent airway blockages, thereby reducing the chance of obstructed breathing during sleep. The musical instrument therapy device comprises: a tubular body defining an air column; a mouthpiece located at a first end of the tubular body configured to receive a blow input; a mute located at a second end of the tubular body configured to mute the blow input; a plurality of sensors configured to obtain measurements associated with the blow input; a processing unit configured to make one or more determinations associated with blow input based on the obtained measurements; and an indicator configured to display an indication of the one or more determinations.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a musical instrument for producing a harmonious scale of musical notes. The instrument includes nine separate sound actuators each of which is configured to cause the musical instrument to generate a different frequency selected from the group of frequencies comprising 174 Hz, 285 Hz, 396 Hz, 417 Hz, 528 Hz, 639 Hz, 741 Hz, 852 Hz and 963 Hz, the musical instrument being configured such that physically manipulating the sound actuators causes the musical instrument to generate the frequency corresponding to the sound actuator manipulated. The invention is also directed at a system for -writing music to be played with a musical instrument incorporating the harmonious scale of musical notes as described above. The notation system includes a staff of five parallel and horizontal lines separated by four spaces, the first line indicating a fist note of 174 Hz, the space immediately above the first line indicating a second note of 285 Hz, the second line indicating a third note of 396 Hz, the space immediately above the second line indicating a fourth note of 417 Hz, the third line indicating a fifth note of 528 Hz, the space immediately above the third line indicating a sixth note of 639 Hz, the fourth line indicating a seventh note of 741 Hz, the space immediately above the fourth line indicating an eighth of 852 Hz and the fifth line, indicating a ninth note of 963 Hz.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to increase the resonance of an instrument by applying a conductive medium formed of a mixture of resonance increasing materials to the instrument. According to the present invention, the method for increasing the resonance of an instrument such as a woodwind instrument having a cap holder inside and a pad coupled to the cap holder comprises: an agitation step for agitating a mixture of a conductive medium that contains at least one of platinum, gold, silver, copper, nickel, bronze, brass, phosphor bronze with solid silicon; a mixture heating step for heating the agitated mixture; a coagulation step for naturally cooling the heated mixture and coagulating into a solid; a mixture pulverization step for pulverizing the mixture; a mixture application step for applying the mixture to the inside of the cap holder; and a pad attaching step for attaching a pad to the interior of the cap holder after the mixture application step.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a valve assembly designed to regulate air flow through a musical instrument and is designed to avoid bumps typically associated with valve construction that result in distortion and other harmful effects on vibrating columns of air that pass there-through. The valve assembly comprises: a cylindrical-shaped valve casing having openings formed therein that define at least one ingress and at least one egress through which vibrating columns of air pass; and a valve piston received within the valve casing and linearly displaceable therein, the valve piston comprising at least one passageway having a cross-section that is open and u-shaped, whereby other passageways formed in the valve piston are bump-free. The present invention also provides a valve assembly comprising: a cylindrical-shaped valve casing having openings formed therein that define at least one ingress and at least one egress through which vibrating columns of air pass; and a rotary valve received within the valve casing and rotatably displaceable therein. The rotary valve comprises a pair of passageways formed asymmetrically in the body of the rotary valve and at least one of the pair of passageways having a substantially circular cross-section. The rotary valve being further characterized with a land between opening of one of the pair of passageways and the absence of a land for the other of the pair of passageways so as to minimize distortion.
