Abstract:
A novel musical instrument tone hole forming tool. A body includes a distal end to be inserted transversely into a musical instrument through an opening therein. The distal end of the body includes sockets spaced about its periphery. Bearings are located in the sockets. A shaft is moveable within the body and includes reduced diameter distal portions which receive the bearings in a contracted configuration in order to insert the body into the musical instrument. The shaft drives the bearings outward from the distal end of the body in an expanded configuration to form the tone hole when the body is withdrawn out of the musical instrument.
Abstract:
A body of a mouthpiece (2) is produced by a method comprising checking the characteristics desirable for the body of the mouthpiece (2), providing a porous ceramic material having a first characteristics and an acrylic resin having a second characteristics, and impregnating the ceramic material with the acrylic resin followed by solidification, with adjusting at least one of the first characteristics, the second characteristics and the mixing ratio in the impregnation. The method allows the production without fail of a ceramic product having characteristics satisfactory for a certain application.
Abstract:
An embouchure (1) for woodwind instruments consists of an embouchure body (2) with a cover (9) divided into four surface regions (14-17). This confers the advantage that the instrument can be controlled in a particularly simple and easy manner when played and the additional advantage of a large number of possible variations.

Abstract:
A musical instrument, particularly a hand drum or a didgeridoo, molded of natural fiber-reinforced cellular composite materials designed to match tonal properties of wood. A sliding block cable tensioning device is employed to create tension on the skin.
Abstract:
An injection molded saxophone. A main frame of the saxophone comprises a number of injection molded parts. The injection molded parts are namely a neck, an upper body, a main body, a left bell and bow and a right bell and bow. The injection molded parts are preferably made from a substantially plastic polymer. The neck comprises an octave vent for allowing moisture removal. At least one of the injection molded parts has a number of holes formed therein. A keyworks assembly is couplable to the main frame. The keyworks assembly comprises a number of tone hole cover structures, a number of keys and a number of rods. Each tone hole cover structure comprises a lid shaped for covering its corresponding hole. Each tone hole cover structure has an end ring with an end hole that is shaped and dimensioned to fit with an external profile of one of the number of rods. Operation of the rod varies at least one hole between the open state and the closed state to thereby vary pitch of generated sound.
