    Abstract: The present invention relates to an incubation system for liquid-based incubation of prematurely born infants, comprising: - an inner chamber forming an amniotic basin comprising amniotic fluid, said basin being configured for holding said infant and being made from a flexible material configured for expanding said inner chamber volume in correspondence with the growth of said infant; - an outer chamber enclosing said inner chamber and comprising a temperature regulation fluid, - a fetal connection port, arranged for connecting with the umbilical cord of said infant, said umbilical cord providing a port in said inner chamber to said infant for providing dialyzation and nutrition compounds to said infant via said umbilical cord; - a fetal control unit, connected to said fetal connection port for control of said dialyzation and control of said provided nutrition by monitoring and controlling one or more of a pressure, flow and temperature thereof; an amniotic fluid circulation unit, arranged for connecting with an inlet/outlet port of said inner chamber and comprising a pump for circulating said amniotic fluid from said inner chamber and through a purification system located outside said inner chamber; and - a temperature regulation fluid control unit, arranged for connecting with an inlet/outlet port of said outer chamber and comprising a pump for circulating said temperature regulation fluid from said outer chamber and through a heat exchanger system located outside said inner chamber.

    Abstract: The present invention relates in general to spectral sensing systems, and more in particular, to multi-pixel spectroscopy sensor for spectral analysis of a sample under test. To this end, a multi-pixel spectroscopy sensor is proposed for spectral analysis of a sample under test, the sensor comprising an array of pixel elements generating a dataset comprising a plurality of data values corresponding to the pixel elements upon illumination of the sample by a light source, each of the pixel elements comprising a stack of layers comprising a first reflective structure, comprising one or more layers of reflective material; a second reflective structure, comprising one or more layers of reflective material, wherein the first and second reflective structures are arranged for reflecting the light of the light source; a phase tuning element, comprising a phase tuning material configured for resonant response to a defined wavelength of the light; a detector element comprising a layer of photo active material arranged for defining a photodetector, the photodetector being arranged for converting the light of the wavelength defined by the corresponding phase tuning element into a photocurrent; contact elements comprising conductive materials in electrical connection with the detector element for outputting the photocurrent; the sensor further comprising: a read-out circuit, connected to each of the contact elements of the pixel elements for simultaneous read-out of a plurality of photocurrents for generating and outputting the dataset for the spectral analysis of the sample under test, and wherein the phase tuning element of each of the pixel elements is configured for a different wavelength response of the light and each photodetector of the pixel elements is comprised of a semiconductor material.

    Abstract: An over-actuated system [304], such as a catheter, having shape memory alloy (SMA) hysteretic wire actuators is controlled using a controller [300, 302] that generates a control signal [310] based on a temperature model that takes into account physical limitations of the SMA hysteretic wire actuators, and based on a hysteresis model (e.g., the Duhem model) that describes hysteresis behavior of the SMA hysteretic wire actuators. The controller preferably includes a feedback controller [302] and a reference governor [300] that generates a smart reference signal [308] from a reference signal [306] representing a desired value of an output of the system. The smart reference signal preferably minimizes an error between the reference signal and an achievable output, and the control signal preferably is generated based on the smart reference signal.
