Abstract:
A curable dental impression compound containing a ferromagnetic compound, preferably an iron powder additive as well as a method for guiding the compound into the sub-gingival areas of the tooth by the use of a magnetic field. The term "ferromagnetic" as used herein is used to describe a substance that is capable of being attracted by a magnetic field, in particular a substance that exhibits a high degree of magnetic permeability.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention is preferably directed to a dispenser of the type sold by 3M ESPE under the trade name Pentamix and as also described above. Such a dispenser preferably comprises at least a first and a second compartment for a first reservoir and a second reservoir, respectively, the first and the second reservoirs containing a first and a second component for the dental material, respectively. It further preferably comprises a first and a second plunger driven by a first drive for advancing the first and the second components from the first and the second reservoirs, respectively. Moreover, a dynamic mixer driven by a second drive for automatically mixing the first and second components to form the dental material from the first and second components is provided. Such a dispenser further preferably has a dispensing portion or mixing tip for dispensing the mixed dental material. The present invention is more particularly directed to a dispenser or method adapted for advancing and mixing at least one dental material, comprising at least one drive which is operated on a predetermined, non-uniform drive speed profile. Preferably an advancing speed profile is provided for advancing the components and/or a mixing speed profile is provided for mixing the components, and either profile may be a "drive speed profile" as that term is used herein. More preferably both profiles are provided.
Abstract:
A device for mixing and dispensing dental materials is provided, comprising a drive shaft for driving a mixer. The mixer is placeable on the drive shaft in a first and a second position, wherein in the first position a guiding section of the drive shaft is mated with an engagement section of the mixer, but an engagement section of the drive shaft is not engaged with the engagement section of the mixer, and in the second position the engagement section of the drive shaft is also engaged with the engagement section of the mixer.
Abstract:
A venting syringe plunger assembly (100) for use with a syringe system allows for venting of gas from the syringe system during use. The plunger assembly (100) includes a hollow outer sleeve (102) having an interior surface, and an inner stem (104) having an exterior surface. At least a portion of the inner stem (104) is disposed within the outer sleeve (102) so as to be movable (e.g., slidable) within the outer sleeve (102). A venting passageway (106) is defined between the interior surface of the outer sleeve (102) and the exterior surface of the inner stem (104). The plunger assembly (100) also includes means (112) for selectively moving the inner stem (104) within the outer sleeve (102) so as to selectively open and close the venting passageway (106).
Abstract:
A capsule for storing and dispensing dental material. The capsule comprises a cartridge for the dental material, and a nozzle. The nozzle being pivotable with respect to the cartridge between a first position in which the capsule is closed for storage and a second position in which the capsule is opened for dispensing the dental material. One of the nozzle and the cartridge comprises a bearing member and the other one of the nozzle and the cartridge comprises a bearing shell, wherein the bearing member and bearing shell form a pivot. Upon pivoting the nozzle from the first to the second position, the seal between the bearing member and the bearing shell is improved.
Abstract:
A method for implanting a tooth implant in an at least partially edentulous patient including the steps of anchoring at least one attachment element in a patient's jaw bone, removably and replaceably mounting a carrier assembly bearing at least one fiducial marker onto the at least one attachment element in a precisely repeatable position with respect to the patient's jaw bone, employing the carrier assembly for providing registration between the at least one fiducial marker and the patient's jaw bone and implanting the tooth implant by employing a tracking system which uses the registration to guide a drilling assembly.
Abstract:
A dispensing syringe for dispensing a multi-component dental composition, preferably a two component composition, is provided. The syringe includes a syringe body with multiple elongated barrels for storing the components of the composition; a threaded plunger rod assembly; and a rotatable, threaded connector knob. Preferably, the syringe body has a double- barrel structure and the plunger rod assembly includes two plunger rods that slide within the barrels. The threaded knob has a through-bore with a continuous internal thread for engaging the outer threads of the first and second plunger rods. A dental practitioner manually rotates the knob to displace the first and second plunger rods and discharge the components. The dispensing syringe may further include a dispensing tip containing a static mixing element for mixing the components and dispensing the mixed composition.
Abstract:
A package (10) for the storage and dispensing of a plurality of materials includes a first and a second longitudinally juxtaposed barrels (11, 12). Each barrel (11, 12) having a first and a second end (20, 21). Each first and second barrels (11, 12) having a quantity of at least one of the materials initially contained therein, and each barrel having an open end (20) and a dispensing end (21). A sealing plunger (40) disposed in each barrel (11, 12) such that the material in each barrel (11, 12) is initially positioned between the dispensing end (21) of the barrels (11, 12) and the respective ones of the sealing plungers (40). A snap cap (23) is contiguously formed to initially close each of the dispensing ends (21) of the barrels (11, 12), such that the snap cap (23) may be broken from the barrels (11, 12) to thereby forming a secondary open end (22) at the dispensing end (21) of the barrels (11, 12), thereby facilitating the material contained in each barrel (11, 12) to flow through and be dispensed.
