Die Kartusche (102) umfasst eine Kartuschen-Wand (221), die einen zylinderförmigen Hohlraum zur Aufnahme einer Druck- bzw. Extrusionsmasse (108) umschließt. Außerdem umfasst die Kartusche (102) eine an einer Steuerseite (231) der Kartusche (102) angeordnete Kappe (222), die entlang einer Achse des zylinderförmigen Hohlraums bewegt werden kann, um Druck- bzw. Extrusionsmasse (108) an einer von der Steuerseite (231) abgewandten Extrusionsseite (232) aus der Kartusche (102) zu extrudieren. Die Kartusche (102) umfasst ferner ein Mischelement (410), das eingerichtet ist, im Hohlraum der Kartusche (102) angeordnete Druck- bzw. Extrusionsmasse (108) zu mischen.

A system and method determine color of skin of a subject and produce a customized cosmetic based at least in part on the determined color of skin. A region of skin is covered with a chamber having an open area facing the skin. The skin is illuminated with light caused to enter the chamber. The light is caused to be dispersed within the chamber. A camera is used to record an image of a portion of the dispersed light in the chamber and the recorded image is processed to characterize the color of the skin. The recorded image includes a plurality of colors which are mapped to the closest color recipe. The color recipe is used to calculate actuator displacements for a portioning machine that includes a cartridge having cosmetic additives that produce the customized cosmetic.

A dispensing device includes: a first chamber and a second chamber, the first chamber being longitudinally movable in the second chamber; an outlet passage fluidly connected to the second chamber; an intermediate valve positioned between an interior part of the first chamber and an interior part of the second chamber. The valve is configured to allow the liquid product to flow from the interior space of first chamber to the interior space of the second chamber when the first chamber is moved in a first longitudinal direction and to limit flow of the liquid product from the second chamber to the first chamber when the first chamber is moved in an opposite second longitudinal direction. A blocking member is movable in concert with the first chamber and configured to seal the outlet passage when the valve limits flow from the second chamber to the first chamber.

An ice-cream maker comprising: a body having a rotatable paddle; a cooling chamber supported by the body for receiving an ice-cream mixture, the paddle being adapted to move through the ice-cream mixture; a sensor module for detecting a hardness measure of the ice-cream mixture; a processor module coupled to the sensor module for receiving a signal indicative of the hardness measure, the processor module being adapted to control the operation of the paddle. After the ice-cream mixture has reached a selected hardness, the processor module periodically operates paddle to churn the mixture to substantially maintain the mixture at the selected hardness. Before introduction of the mixture, the processor module can operate a cooling element to pre-cool the cooling chamber.

The present invention relates a batch operated dosing apparatus assembly for producing an active chemical product. The apparatus comprises i. at least two sealed reactant containers (1) for providing at least two liquid reactants for a chemical reaction taking place inside said dosing apparatus assembly (E) and resulting in said active chemical product, ii. at least one microstructured device (2) providing a reaction space for said chemical reaction with efficient mixing for said reactants, whereby the inlet of at least one device is adapted to receive the liquid reactants from said containers (1), iii. a casing (3) functionally connected to said sealed reactant containers (1) and said microstructured device(s) (2), and optionally being capable of enclosing liquid solvent which is able to dissolve or dilute said active chemical product and iv. means (20) for launching said reaction and/or carrying said liquid solvent in-side said casing (3).

Systems and methods are provided for the mixing of materials to form a homogenous mixture and for delivering the mixture to a target site. In one embodiment a vial containing a liquid monomer is detachably engaged with a mixing chamber. The liquid monomer flows into the mixing chamber and combines with a powder to form a flowable composition such as bone cement. The bone cement may then be injected from the device to a target location.

A bone cement mixing and delivery system is provided. The system includes a mixing cartridge (100) for receiving liquid and powder components of bone cement, a mixing device for mixing the components, and a delivery gun (500) for discharging the bone cement from the mixing cartridge. A bone cement loading system is provided to load the components in the mixing cartridge, while a rotary power tool (177) or a mixing handle can be selectively, interchangeably, and operatively connected to the mixing device to mix the components once loaded. A converter can also be used to convert rotational input from the rotary power tool into rotational and axial output to simplify mixing of the components. After mixing, the cartridge is placed in the delivery gun. The delivery gun comprises a drive rod having a plurality of teeth (780). At least one pawl member (786, 788) engages the teeth the advance the drive rod and discharge the bone cement from the cartridge.

A shaft (22) extends through said aperture (20) of the second axial end wall (18). A piston element (34) comprises a closed container (36) filled with a second starting component (46) of the polymeric cement. The piston element (34) is selectively lockable to the shaft (22). The container has a bore (38) and is slidingly engaged upon said shaft. An agitator element (24) is secured to one end of the shaft (22). Furthermore opening means (56) for providing an opening in the closed container (36) are provided.
