Abstract:
An antenna structure for providing a broadband circularly polarized radiation. The antenna structure comprises a feed line layer having an input portion and a first radiating patch layer stacked adjacent to the feed line layer. The feed line layer is shaped and dimensioned as an open loop having an input portion and signals are feedable to the feed line layer via the input portion. The first radiating patch layer has a reference origin defined thereon. The antenna structure also comprises a plurality of probes disposed between the feed line layer and the first radiating patch layer for coupling therebetween. The signals are feedable to the first radiating patch layer via the plurality of probes and each of the plurality of probes are positioned about the reference origin of the radiating patch layer along the length of the feed line layer. The signals achieve a phase difference for providing circularly polarized radiation in response to being fed via the plurality of probes being positioned about the reference origin of the radiating patch layer along the length of the feed line layer.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a micropatch antenna comprising a radiating element and a ground plane separated by an air gap. Small size, light weight, wide bandwidth, and wide directional pattern are achieved without the introduction of a high-permittivity dielectric substrate. Capacitive elements are configured along the perimeter of at least one of the radiating element and ground plane. Capacitive elements may comprise extended continuous structures or a series of localized structures. The geometry of the radiating element, ground plane, and capacitive elements may be varied to suit specific applications, such as linearly-polarized or circularly-polarized electromagnetic radiation.

Abstract:
An antenna system for a radio frequency identification system comprising (a) a base (105), a first patch antenna (102) disposed on the base (105) and having a circular polarization and adapted to convert between electrical signals and electromagnetic fields; and a second patch antenna (103) disposed on the base (105) and having a circular polarization and adapted to convert between electrical signals and electromagnetic fields. The second antenna (103) is disposed at a distance from the first antenna (102) to define a region (104) between the first antenna (102) and the second antenna (103). The second patch antenna (103) being oriented relative to the first patch antenna (102) such that the electromagnetic fields of the two antennas are substantially opposing in said region (104).
Abstract:
An antenna capable of receiving both left-hand circularly polarized (IJ lCP) signals and right-hand circularly polarized (RHCP) signals, and outputtmc. both signals on a single feed. The antenna includes two coplanar concentric patches. "he inner patch is substantially square. The outer patch has inner and outer edges both of which are square. The two patches do not physically contact one another. A single feed Ês connected to the inner patch. The inner patch receives the 1,HCP signal, and the two patches together receive the RMCP signal.

Abstract:
A circularly polarized patch antenna for wireless communication devices is disclosed. The circularly polarized patch antenna includes a conductive ground plane positioned parallel to a multi-layer resonator with both disposed in a dielectric substrate. The multi-layer resonator may include top and middle conductive layers with meandering between layers. A plurality of slots may be interposed intermittently spanning the top and middle conductive layers. The meandering may be integrated with the slots. The circularly polarized patch antenna may be realized as a multi-layer printed circuit board.
