    Abstract: A method for attaching a hollow conductor (10) to a flange for fabricating an electric generator main lead bushing. In one embodiment used for an air side flange, a gap (25) is formed in the flange (15) to receive an end (30) of the conductor, a groove (35) is formed in the conductor end, a braze alloy insert (40) is placed into the groove, the conductor end (30) is inserted into the gap (25) and the flange (15) and the conductor (10) are heated to melt the insert and cooled to provide a seal between the flange (15) and the conductor (10). In another embodiment used for a gas side flange, a counterbore (80) sized to receive a flange (20) is formed in an inner portion of a hollow conductor (10), a groove (100) is formed in the counterbore, a braze alloy insert (110) is placed into the groove, the flange (20) is fitted into the counterbore (80) and the flange (20) and the conductor (10) are heated to melt the insert (110) and cooled to provide a seal between the flange (20) and the conductor (10).
