Abstract:
The present document describes a link member for providing an interface between an actuator and a seat base. The link member has a translational degree of freedom and at least two rotational degrees of freedom. The link member comprises: a joint member having a spherical surface, the joint member for attachment to one of the actuator and the seat base; a housing for attachment to the other one of the actuator and the seat base; and a slider mounted on the spherical surface and within the housing. The slider is free to move in a direction of a translational plane within the housing thereby providing the translational degree of freedom. Furthermore, the slider is free to slide on the spherical surface and to pivot about a first axis and a second axis thereby providing the at least two rotational degrees of freedom
Abstract:
The present invention provides an adjustable bed handheld remote control that may include a handheld housing, a touch sensor on a front face of the handheld housing, a transmitter and the like. The touch sensor may be presented in a slider form and may be adapted to facilitate a user in adjusting a frame position of an adjustable bed. The transmitter may be electrically coupled to a processor and may receive input from the touch sensor, for communication control signals to the adjustable bed in accordance with the input received from the touch sensor.
Abstract:
The present invention is a furniture apparatus that uses an indicator, such as a light, to provide a signal to a user. Power can be provided to the indicator by energy acquisition elements and energy storage elements. The energy acquisition elements and energy storage elements can be combined along with the necessary sensors and switches to allow the user to control the acquisition of energy and whether or not the indicator is activated. For convenience purposes, a carriage housing the energy acquisition elements and energy storage element can be removed from the furniture for acquiring energy in a remote location from the furniture.
Abstract:
In one aspect, the present invention relates to device for positioning an infant in an infant safety seat. In one embodiment, the device includes a back support portion for supporting the back of the infant, a head support portion extending from the back support portion in a first direction, for supporting the head of the infant; and a seat support portion extending from the back support portion in a second direction B that is substantially opposite the first direction, for supporting the buttocks and legs of the infant, where at least one of the back support portion, head support portion, and seat support portion is integrally connected with at least one other of the back support portion, head support portion, and seat support portion.
Abstract:
A mattress lift apparatus is provided for insertion between a mattress and an underlying support structure, such as a box spring. The mattress lift apparatus elevates a portion of the mattress so that bed linens may be tucked between the mattress and the underlying support structure. A continuous loop is formed by a base member, an incline member, a transition member and a handle member, wherein the continuous loop provides structural integrity to the mattress lift apparatus. An aperture is formed within the continuous loop, including along an inside portion of the handle member to enable the handle member to be gripped. In one embodiment, the handle member includes a substantially semi-circular shape. In another embodiment, at least one support rib is positioned in the aperture to mechanically couple the base member and at least one of the inclined member and the transition member.
Abstract:
A sheet switch (142) has a bottom layer (144) and a top layer (160). First and second conductors (148, 162) located on the bottom layer (144) form two separate conductive paths, with a voltage potential applied to the conductors (148, 162). The top layer (160) includes a ground conductor (172). Spacers (178) are positioned between the top and bottom layers (160, 144). When forces are externally applied, the spacers (178) collapse and the ground conductor (172) contacts the first and second conductors (148, 162), and establishes a conductive path therebetween.
Abstract:
A seating system of improved comfort and effectiveness for use as bicycle seating, in particular, and body support, in general. The seating system provides support at the front and rear of the cyclist's hips. The rear support is at the sit bones and above the back of the thigh muscles. The rear support is complemented by a moveable support at the front of the waist. When a cyclist is seated, the front support holds up the forward leaning cyclist. When a cyclist rises to pedal in a standing posture, the front support rises with, and continues supporting the cyclist. When a cyclist sits down, the waist support can drop back down or remain up. When the front support remains up, the cyclist can stand on the ground while straddling the bicycle frame; thus allowing the cyclist stop and start pedalling in the normal position of straddling the bicycle frame.
Abstract:
A slipcover for a piece of furniture including a base, a back, first and second arms, and a seat portion. The slipcover has back pleats located at the respective back corners and having pleated seams and elastic, which runs through the pleated seams and travels across the back pleats for allowing the slipcover to expand over the largest perimeter of the furniture and then relax to fit the base of the furniture as the slipcover is placed on the furniture. First and second arm fronts cover respective top front portions of the first and second arms. A wrap skirt covers respective bottom portions of the first and second arms.
Abstract:
A bed lifting system (10) is provided for lifting abed above a surface (20). The system comprises a frame (14,18) adapted for supporting the bed. The frame is arranged for interacting with a lifting mechanism (26) capable of elevating the frame. A base (40,50) that is adapted for inter-engaging with the frame whereby the base can support the frame over the surface independently of the lifting mechanism.
