摘要: A method of using an oximeter sensor assembly including the steps of detecting light from a light emitting element and storing digital data in a memory associated with the sensor assembly. The stored digital data includes coefficients for use by an oximeter monitor coupled to the sensor assembly to calculate data from the detected light, wherein the coefficients represent a combination of different sensor-specific characteristics, application-specific characteristics, and patient-specific characteristics. Control means including means for processing received information signals in accordance with the equation in response to received coefficients to determine blood oxygen levels is provided.

摘要: A glucose meter includes means for processing a blood sample to provide a glucose measurement and a communication interface to send and receive data including the glucose measurement to a remote processing center. The processing center collects and processes a plurality of glucose measurements to provide a modified method for processing a blood sample in order to provide an adjusted glucose measurement. In one embodiment, the modified blood sample processing method is a function of a permissible glucose deviation for the patient and in another embodiment, the modified blood sample processing method is a function an aging factor indicative of test strip variations over time.

摘要: An inventive method and system are provided for identifying a compatible photoplethysmographic sensor when interconnected to a given photoplethysmographic monitor. The method and system may further provide for the identification of which of a plurality of compatible sensors is interconnected to allow for selective calibration of the photoplethysmographic monitor. In this regard, the system and method may entail provision of a predetermined drive or test signal to a light source and/or identification element (i.e., sensor elements) of a photoplethysmographic sensor, and the obtainment of a corresponding output signal for use in sensor identification. In one approach, an output signal is obtained from at least one of three sensor elements each of which is interconnected between a different pair of sensor terminals which is a unique combination of two of four sensor terminals on the sensor. In this regard, individual circuits may be formed through each sensor element allowing for enhanced flexibility in signal application.

摘要: A signal conditioning device is disclosed that interfaces a variety of sensor devices, such as guide wire-mounted pressure sensors, to physiology monitors. The signal conditioning device includes a processor for controlling sensor excitation and signal conditioning circuitry within the signal conditioning device. The processor also supplies signals to an output stage on the signal conditioning device representative of processed sensor signals received by a sensor interface of the signal conditioning device. Power for the signal conditioning device processor is supplied by an excitation signal received from a physiology monitor that drives the output stage. In addition, a temperature compensating current source provides an adjustment current to at least one of a pair of resistive sensor elements to compensate for differences between temperature change upon the pair of resistive sensor elements, thereby facilitating nullifying temperature effects upon the resistive sensor elements.
