Methods and devices for monitoring intra-ocular pressure of a patient using a miniature implantable sensor device are provided herein. Methods include obtaining multiple pressure measurements each day during an increment of an extended monitoring period according to a sampling program and wirelessly transmitting stored measurement data and wirelessly charging the device. Measurements and data process is performed with low power requirements such that sampling can be performed hourly for at least one week using energy stored on the miniature device and measurement data can be transmitted and the device charged rapidly when an external portable data acquisition/charging device is held in proximity to the device. In one aspect, methods include switching between differing use modes and powering the sampling device with a high impedance battery by switching between a supercapacitor and the battery with a microcontroller to perform impedance conversion.

The end cap has one end for receiving light from and transmitting light to the dermoscope, a removable calibration target disposed at the other end having optical characteristics similar to a standard skin type, and an identifier disposed on the end cap. The identifier uniquely identifies the end cap and associates it with both data regarding light emitted from the skin of an animal and calibration data derived from the calibration target. Animal tissue may be examined to identify lesions using a plurality of wavelengths and a plurality of polarizations.

An embeddable module for measuring a blood glucose level may be embedded in an external host and may comprise a host interface, a microcontroller, an ASIC, a temperature measuring element, and a measurement strip port. The host interface may permit electrical communication between the host and the microcontroller. The microcontroller and ASIC may communicate with each other and may work together to measure the blood glucose level of a blood sample. The measurement strip port may receive a removable measurement strip having the blood sample. The ASIC may communicate with the measurement strip port such that the ASIC may receive signals from the measurement strip port related to the blood glucose level of the blood sample. The temperature measuring element may be in electrical communication with the microcontroller and may measure the temperature of the module and transmit signals to the microcontroller related to the temperature of the module.

A color sensor detects wavelengths reflected and/or refracted from the colored marking due to the light shined on the colored marking. A processor of the delivery device determines a color of the colored marking from the detected wavelengths and ascertains information related to the reservoir or the fluid in the reservoir corresponding to the determined color, wherein the processor operates the fluid delivery device according to the ascertained information, wherein the information may include a reservoir type and/or medication type.

The system and the method are proposed, which automatically enable the creation of virtual sports competitions from the data automatically acquired by sports practitioners when practicing their normal sports. Electronic systems automatically acquire data characterising the sporting activity. The data is subsequently secured and a data flow is uniquely associated with a given type of sports equipments. In most cases also the location where the performance has been performed is stored. The essential components of the proposed system are computer-based systems such as an internet server, enabling to maintain user association with specific devices, automatic acquisition and handling of data acquired by sports devices and the automatic management of virtual competitions.

Um bei einem Verfahren zur Datenerfassung von Meßdaten, die von einem physiologischen Sensor in Abhängigkeit von physiologischen Parametern eines Lebewesens erzeugt werden, bei dem die von dem physiologischen Sensor erzeugten Daten einer externen Auswerteeinheit zugeführt werden, die diese Daten in einem Speicher ablegt, die Speicherung der Daten bei Verwendung verschiedener Sensoren zu vereinfachen, wird vorgeschlagen, daß man jedem physiologischen Sensor einen eigenen Speicher zuordnet und von dem physiologischen Sensor stammende Daten ausschließlich in dem dem physiologischen Sensor zugeordneten Speicher speichert. Außerdem wird eine Vorrichtung zur Durchführung dieses Verfahrens angegeben.
