Hub caps with rapid locking anti-theft system of the type comprised of a hub cap disc or body which covers the metal rim, comprising a series of tubular projections matching each of the locking screws of the wheel to the hub; each tubular projection comprises a mouth with an internal lip which is longitudinally grooved and biased by an elastic element such as a conical hoop or the like, embedded in the structure of the tubular projection; the external contour of the lip is bevelled so as to enable introduction of a ring or rib for interfering with the corresponding locking screw, the internal contour being appropriate for fixing permanently the hub cap.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the covering of light-alloy wheels with a round, closed inherently rigid shaped film body during prolonged transportation. Said body essentially covers the outside of the light-alloy rim including the rim flange. The covering is centrally fixed with a positive fit in recesses on the wheel side by means of projections formed in the shaped film body. According to the invention, a centre hole (17) known per se is used to fix the shaped film body (7) centrally and securely on the vehicle wheel. A cylindrical projection in the centre of the shaped film body (7) is pressed into the centre hole of the vehicle wheel. The inside surface of the centre hole may have a peripheral groove with a preferably trapezoidal cross-section. The cylindrical projection of the shaped film body has several detent lugs (11) on the peripheral side which correspond to the peripheral groove (14) on the wheel side in terms of their axial position and the shapes of their cross-sections and which engage in the same with a positive fit. Several axial grooves are provided on the periphery of the cylindrical projection to make it easier to press in.

An improved vehicle wheel cover retention system and method for producing the same includes a wheel disc and a wheel cover secured thereto. The wheel disc defines an outboard facing wheel surface and includes an outboard tire bead seat retaining flange. The outboard bead seat retaining flange includes an outer peripheral end and an inner surface having at least one annular groove formed therein. The wheel cover covers at least a portion of the outboard facing wheel surface and the entire portion of the outer peripheral end of the outboard bead seat retaining flange, and includes an outer end. The wheel cover is secured to the wheel disc by an adhesive/sealant. In particular, the adhesive/sealant is disposed in the annular groove to secure the outer end of the wheel cover to the outer peripheral end of the wheel disc and to provide a seal to prevent water, mud, salt and other debris from entering between the outer end of the wheel cover and the outer peripheral end of the wheel disc.

Accessories for improving aerodynamic characteristics of wheels comprising: an outer rim configured to operatively couple with a tire; an inner rim configured to be located radially inward of the outer rim at a radial distance away from a wheel hub; an adaptable circumferential membrane, configured to operatively couple to both the inner rim and the outer rim, being structurally configured to adapt to an external force and change shape when subject to the external forces; and an attachment assembly configured to operatively couple the adaptable circumferential membrane to the outer rim and the inner rim as an overlay to wheel structural elements coupling the hub to the tire. The adaptable circumferential membrane comprises at least one air engaging flexible and aerodynamic surface configured to deform under the external force and to return to a neutral position when the external force is no longer present.

The invention refers to a vehicle wheel for commercial vehicles, having a fastening device for an aerodynamic wheel disc cover. In order to enable secure and easy fastening of the disc cover, the fastening device comprises several fastening holes 30 arranged in the hub connection flange 21, with at least one fastening hole consisting of a through hole having a smaller diameter on the front side of the wheel than on a rear side of the hub connection flange and forming an abutment for a detachable retaining means acting by form fit, and/or wherein at least one fastening hole 30 consists of a through hole provided with an internal thread for screwing in a fastening screw 40 as a retaining means, and/or that the centre hole has an inner circle edge comprising a constriction which forms an abutment for a cover side arranged retaining means acting by form fit. The invention also relates to the cover disc.

A vehicle wheel comprises a wheel disc, wheel rim, and wheel axis. A first cover spans between the rim and a hub portion of the disc. An axial portion of the first cover extends substantially along the axis. A plurality of first vents in the axial portion are arrayed circumferentially about the axis. Tabs extend perpendicular to the axial portion at each of the first vents. A second cover is secured to the rim and extends radially inward from the rim in a direction perpendicular to the axis. A plurality of second vents are in the second cover and arrayed circumferentially about the axis. The first and second covers are on opposite sides of the wheel. Each of the first and second covers has a greater extent in a radial direction perpendicular to the axis than in an axial direction parallel to the axis.
