Abstract:
The corrosion inhibitor blend of at least one corrosion inhibitor base (which may be a Mannich reaction product), a solvent selected from the group consisting of C1 acids and ester and salt derivatives thereof, and optionally a surfactant, has been found to be effective as a corrosion inhibitor for metals in acid media, particularly fluids containing halogen acids. The corrosion inhibitor has improved performance over similar or identical corrosion inhibitor compositions where an alcohol such as methanol is used as a solvent. Suitable, nonlimiting possibilities for the solvent include, but are not necessarily limited to formic acid, format salts, methyl format, ethyl format, benzyl format, format salts of amines, inorganic format, and mixtures thereof.
Abstract:
A water-based autodepositing coating composition that contains dissolved and/or dispersed anionic polyester resin comprising the condensate of (a) a polyhydric alcohol component and (b) an acid component in addition to acid, and metal ions and/or other oxidizing agents provides a coating composition that can impart an excellent corrosion resistance, adherence, and heat resistance to metal surfaces when appplied to the metal surfaces and dried into place thereon, preferably with the use of heat. A rinse is usually preferably interposed between the application of the auto-depositing composition and the drying operation.
Abstract:
A system for reprocessing and sterilizing a previously used endoscope having at least one lumen is disclosed. The reprocessing system (10) includes a reaction chamber (36) into which individual chemical components of a sterilant are transferred by pneumatic force. The system includes a central processor (112) which controls the asynchronous reprocessing and sterilization of at least two endoscopes. A novel sterilant is also disclosed. Also disclosed is a combination of the sterilization device and the sterilant and methods of using the same.
Abstract:
This invention relates to novel compositions and methods whereby a carboxylate based brine solution is used in drilling and/or well bore treating operations to inhibit corrosion of fluid handling equipment. In one embodiment of the invention the carboxylate based brine solution consists of a carboxylate salt dissolved in water. This brine solution is used to prepare halide-free drilling fluids. Use of halide-free drilling fluids inhibits corrosion stainless steel surfaces of fluid handling equipment. In an alternative embodiment of the present invention a mixed salt brine containing a carboxylate salt and a halide salt is provided for use in a drilling and/or well bore treating operations.

3-amino-5-alkyl-1,2,4 triazols in combination with aminotrimethylenephosphonic acid are used as corrosion inhibitors for aluminium in aqueous acid reaction systems.
Abstract:
Disclosed are sulfur-containing molybdenum complexes used in compositions and methods for inhibiting or reducing high temperature corrosion in petroleum refineries.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Method of minimizing pitting corrosion at temperatures above 130°C, wherein said method comprises: providing an acidic fluid comprising an alkylsulfonic acid; providing at least one corrosion inhibitor compound comprising an organic compound comprising at least two aldehyde functional groups; combining said acidic fluid with said at least one corrosion inhibitor compound; exposing said mixed fluid to a metallic surface at a temperature of at least 130°C; and allowing said mixed fluid sufficient time of exposure to a metal to accomplish a pre-determined function.
Abstract:
Methods and compositions for inhibiting corrosion of a metal product are provided. The metal product can be contacted with water that includes at least one carbonate and/or bicarbonate salt, or otherwise has components that increase the alkalinity of the water. In addition, or as an alternative, the water can include a stannous corrosion inhibitor. The water can be evaporated off of a surface of the metal product to provide a residual of the salt on the surface and/or a protective stannous film on the surface.
Abstract:
The invention provides a system for detection of at least one analyte present in a fluid, the system comprising a detector comprising an assay configured to detect presence of the analyte in the fluid, the detector comprising a specimen sampling region for the fluid and a protective seal partially covering the detector, wherein only the specimen sampling region is uncovered by the fluid-protective seal, and wherein the fluid-protective seal provides resistance to acid. The system can be fully submerged in an acidic solution and still retain is functionality.
