Abstract:
The present invention relates to compositions, such as filled and coated papers, comprising microfibrillated cellulose and inorganic particulate material.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a photodegradable paper containing cellulose fibers and, if applicable, fillers, additives and/or other kind of fibers. This invention further relates to the use of such a paper particularly in the field of packaging, tissue papers or cigarettes.
Abstract:
A process is provided for making a fluff pulp sheet, comprising contacting at least one cationic trivalent metal, salt thereof, or combination thereof with a composition comprising fluff pulp fibers and water at a first pH, to form a fluff pulp mixture; forming a web from the fluff pulp mixture; and applying at least one debonder surfactant to the web and raising the pH to a second pH, which is higher than the first pH, to make the fluff pulp sheet. A fluff pulp sheet is also provided, comprising a web comprising fluff pulp fibers; at least one cationic trivalent metal, salt thereof, or combination thereof; at least one debonder surfactant; and a fiberization energy of
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing nanostructured paper or board and a novel paper or board. The method comprises providing a liquid suspension of nanocellulose-containing material, forming a web from the suspension and drying the web in order to form paper or board. According to the invention, the water content of the suspension at the time of beginning of the drying is 50 % or less by weight of liquids so as to form a paper or board having an average pore size between 200 and 400 nm. By means of the invention, very opaque paper, for example for printing applications, can be manufactured with low energy consumption.
Abstract:
The method of the present invention for crystallizing a filler, especially in order to precipitate calcium carbonate on the surfaces of solids in the short circulation of a fiber web machine by feeding carbon dioxide and lime milk to the liquid flow of the short circulation and allowing them to react with one another, is characterized in that the feed system, the mixing method and/or mixing rate of the chemicals are selected such that a size distribution of the calcium carbonate crystals suitable for the purpose is obtained. Moreover, the invention relates to an approach system for a fiber web machine applying this method, characterized in that it is provided with devices for feeding and mixing carbon dioxide and lime milk into the liquid flow at such a rate that the applicable size distribution of the calcium carbonate crystals is obtained.
Abstract:
A method for coating paperboard including the steps of preparing a web of cellulosic fibers, the web having a basis weight of at least about 85 pounds per 3000 ft 2 , calendering the web at least once to form a paperboard substrate, wherein each of the calendering steps is performed without substantially introducing moisture to the web, and applying a basecoat to at least one surface of the paperboard substrate to form a coated paperboard structure, the basecoat including at least one pigment, the pigment having a sediment void volume of at least about 45 percent, wherein the coated paperboard structure has a Parker Print Surf smoothness of at most about 3 microns.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the production of three dimensional fibre based molded board products, the products produced in a production facility comprising a stock preparation section (1) comprising a pulper (19) for preparing a pulp slurry, the pulper (19) connected to a forming section (3), the forming section (3) comprising a forming tank (16) and a forming unit (20), and a white water tank (5) recycling white water from the forming unit (20) to the stock preparation section (1), wherein that ozone gas (31) is mixed-in, in order to render the flocculation more effective through increased aggregation of finer particles, in at least one of the following positions: 1) the white water tank (5) 2) between the white water tank (5) and stock preparation section (1) 3) the stock preparation section (1), 4) the forming tank (16) and 5) between the forming unit (20) and the white water tank (5).
Abstract:
A product including two or more plies with each ply including one absorbent layer and a second opposing fluid impervious layer. The two plies are arranged such that the fluid impervious layers face each other and are positioned at the inside of the two-ply product. The two plies are bonded on two or three sides to form a sleeve or a pocket, such that a hand can be inserted between the two plies and positioned in contact with one or both fluid impervious layers. In this manner, the product is absorbent on both sides, and can be utilized on both sides while preventing hand contact with the material absorbed or picked up by the product.
