The present invention relates to a method of making a paper product having improved printing characteristics. This is achieved by forming a fibrous substrate, and applying a surface treatment which comprises an aqueous composition. Notably, the aqueous composition includes surface enhanced pulp fibers, with the placement of the surface enhanced pulp fibers optimizing their functionality, with surface placement by use of a paper machine size press desirably facilitating a reduction in the typical starch usage. The present method comprising the steps of providing a aqueous slurry comprising a blend of cellulosic fibers and water and dewatering the aqueous slurry of cellulosic fibers and water to form a fibrous substrate.

The present invention relates to a method for producing cellulose products comprising the following steps: a)providing a cellulose pulp, preferably by a method comprising pulping lignocellulosic biomass by a pulping process such that a cellulose pulp is obtained b) fractionating the cellulose pulp such that an over flow fraction and an under flow fraction is obtained c)swelling at least part of the cellulose fibers present in the over flow fraction by soaking at least part of the over flow fraction in a first liquid having a pH of 9.0 or lower such that a first set of swelled cellulose fibers is obtained d)producing at least one first cellulose product from the first set of swelled cellulose fibers obtained in step c) wherein the first cellulose product is a cellulose derivative and/or a cellulose dope.

The invention relates to a method for producing nanocellulose. In the method according to the invention, cellulose is refined by means of a first refiner (2a), the refined cellulose is separated by means of a first separator (3a) in such a manner that at least part of it belongs to an accepted fraction (A), water is removed from said accepted fraction (A) by means of a precipitator (4) and said accepted fraction is refined by means of a second refiner (2b) to produce nano-cellulose. The invention also relates to a corresponding system for producing nanocellulose and to nanocellulose produced by means of the method or system according to the invention.
