The invention relates to a process for the production of a piece made of silicone including: (a) the blending of 100 parts by weight of an HCR silicone base having a viscosity of greater than 10 6 mPa.s with from 0.3 to 7 parts by weight, such as from 0.5 to 5 parts by weight, of an amphiphilic copolymer including hydrophobic polydiorganosiloxane blocks and hydrophilic poly(ethylene oxide), polypropylene oxide) or ethylene oxide and propylene oxide copolymer blocks, until a homogeneous blend of HCR base and amphiphilic copolymer is obtained, (b) the shaping of the homogeneous blend obtained, and (c) the curing of the shaped blend by heating or irradiation. It also relates to a piece, in particular a tube, manufactured according to this process and to a device comprising such a tube.

A polyethylene article comprises crystalline polyethylene in an orthorhombic unit cell. The b-axes of the crystalline polyethylene are substantially aligned with the machine direction of the article. In particular, the Herman's index of the b-axes in the machine direction is greater than zero and greater than the Herman's indices of the b-axes in both the transverse and normal directions. The unique physical attributes exhibited by a polyethylene article having this new morphology are also described.

Thermoplastic compositions are described that exhibit resistance to hydrocarbon absorption. Methods for forming the thermoplastic compositions are also described. Formation methods include combining a polyarylene sulfide with a first impact modifier and a second impact modifier such that the impact modifiers are dispersed throughout the polyarylene sulfide. A crosslinking agent can be combined with the other components of the composition following dispersal of the additives throughout the composition to dynamically crosslink at least one of the first and second impact modifiers.

Polymer compositions containing a polyoxymethylene base polymer that is compounded with a conductive filler, a polyalkylene glycol, and a metal oxide are disclosed that exhibit electrostatic dissipative (ESD) capabilities while also being resistant to degradation upon exposure to aggressive fuels. For instance, the polymer compositions can have a volume resistivity of from about 1 Ohm-cm to about 200 Ohm-cm and a surface resistivity of about 103 Ohms to about 104 Ohms. Further, the polymer compositions can have a strain at break of from about 15% to about 23%. The polymer compositions can be formed into a shaped or molded article such as a connector, filter housing, baffle, flange, reservoir, port, tube, or pipe, etc. for use in fuel systems where uniform increased conductivity and resistance to aggressive fuels are required.
