Abstract:
The apparatus and method cuts elastomer cables. The cable advancement system comprises rollers with a groove matching the diameter of the cable. The cable clamping system comprises a pair of dies with a conical feed hole and a clamping hole matching the diameter of the cable. The cable shearing system comprises an extra keen coated cryo treated movable razor blade that is held at an adjustable angle against the face of the clamping dies and slides in a linear path at a low sawing angle. A second razor blade for nicking the cable prior to shearing can be used to prevent tears in cable slices. The apparatus can be motorized or manually operated.
Abstract:
A blade material cutting device capable of being used when a blade material (1) used as a punching blade is manufactured, comprising a fixed side blade part (10) having a pair of front and rear supporting surfaces (13)--- which have a band plate part (2) and a blade tip part (3) of the blade material (1) overlapped with each other and are disposed at an interval in the feeding direction F of the blade material (1), a pair of front and rear fixed side edges (13a) and (15a) which are provided on the pair of supporting surfaces (13)--- opposedly to each other, a movable side blade part (50) moved into and out of a clearance (51) between the pair of supporting surfaces (13), and a pair of front and rear movable side edges provided on the movable side blade part (50), wherein, when the blade material (1) is overlapped with the supporting surfaces (13) and the movable side blade part (50) is moved in an arrow (b), a disposing portion (1c) of the blade material (1) is cut off and, in addition, the shape of the front and rear ends of the blade material (1) is kept unbent.
Abstract:
A cutting mechanism (40) for a hand-held printer (10) includes a lever (50) pivotally mounted to a base (44) and coupled to a slidably mounted blade (42). Pivotal movement of the lever translates the blade along a cutting axis to cut labeling media. The lever is automatically returned to the noncutting position by a spring (80), and the blade is biased toward the cutting bar by a spring (70) incorporated in the blade (42) mounting mechanism. The blade has a chevron shape to provide a clean cut in a short cutting stroke.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus (10) for processing chopped fibers (12) from essentially continuous tows (18a, b, c), each consisting of individual strands (20), comprises independently feeding at least two tows to a venturi pump (22) and associated cutter mechanism (24) where the tows are cut or chopped into relatively short lengths to form chopped fibers. The apparatus includes sensors (84) for monitoring the movement of each of the tows to the pump and cutter mechanism, and a controller (28) which adjusts the feed rate of the tows and the rate of operation of the cutter mechanism in the event movement of one of the tows varies from a predetermined feed rate.
