Abstract:
Un procédé d'analyse d'un ensemble d'images d'une séquence vidéo en vue d'un traitement à effectuer sur la séquence est proposé. Le procédé comprend : déterminer dans la séquence vidéo une pluralité de sous-séquences consécutives disjointes d'une ou plusieurs images successives en fonction du type de traitement à effectuer et en fonction du contenu de la séquence vidéo, et analyser les images de chaque sous-séquence déterminée dans la séquence vidéo.
Abstract:
A method for enhancing at least a section of lower-quality visual data using a hierarchical algorithm, the method comprises receiving at least one section of lower- quality visual data; and extracting a subset of features, from the at least one section of lower-quality visual data. A plurality of layers of reduced-dimension visual data from the extracted features are formed and enhanced to form at least one section of higher- quality visual data. The at least one section of higher-quality visual data corresponds to the at least one section of lower-quality visual data received.
Abstract:
An encoding apparatus employing both a CPU and a chip or circuit dedicated to the encoding is disclosed. The encoding apparatus includes a hardware encoder 151 and a software encoder 152. The hardware encoder 151 is configured by hardware dedicated to the encoding and encodes a portion of AV data. The software encoder 152 encodes another portion of the AV data in parallel to the encoding process of the hardware encoder 151 by the use of a CPU 10. A position detector 18 detects a switching position of an allocation destination in the AV data. A data allocator 14 allocates sections of the AV data divided by the switching position to both encoders 151 and 152. A synthesizer 16 arranges the encoded AV data in a predetermined sequence to synthesize a series of encoded AV data. An output unit 17 outputs the series of encoded AV data.

An image data decoding method for decoding compression encoded image data which includes a plurality of image pictures, includes: a selection step of selecting, when one of the plurality of image pictures are to be decoded, and when a first reference picture to be referred to by that image picture to be decoded is not decoded, a second reference picture from a picture already decoded as an alternative reference; and a decoding step of decoding the image picture to be decoded with reference to the second reference picture as an alternative to the first reference picture.
Abstract:
The variable bitrate coding method according to the invention comprises an iterative process including a first analysis pass and a second prediction pass and followed by a last control step for adjusting said stepsize with respect to said target bitrate. According to the invention, a picture rearrangement step is provided between the analysis and prediction steps of one iteration, in order to encode with an improved quality the picture sequence. Application: MPEG-2 encoders for storage media with limited capacity.
